I just killed my rear heater blower

Was just rooting around inside the console... The cigar lighter (the one inside the cubby) has a VERY exposed positive conductor, it dropped onto the part with the barcode.... Tiny arc and then it started the blower running. So I hit the 'power' button. (i.e. start stop ) And it went off..

Book says fuse 14 in the rear covers this, checked it and it's ok. Did a few lock the car and unlocks, nothing.

Front fan and all controls all fine. But the front bottom left button that turns the rear blower controls on/off is not lighting up...

I wish it just had a normal key... e.g. OFF / ACC / IGNITION - you know where you stand!

Any clues anyone other than battery reset?

This is the view with straight down into the console cubby (with the liner removed).

 Cheers, Greg

You turn the ignition on by pressing the start button without your foot on the brake.

The power sockets power down when the tft screen powers off, i.e. Stay on for a bit when you turn ignition on or open the door.

There is a button on the lower left of the centre dash for turning rear heat or controls on and off....is that lit? Bit of a long shot I know.... 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

Yes that is the one I mean by 'bottom left'... It won't light up now.

Google tells me there is a relay in the rear.

How do I check a relay?

. Cheers, Greg

I hit the main START STOP button.

But it is not an absolute shut down, yes it should stop the frontcigar lighters running - but it doesn't actually. Radio still works too when you turn the car 'OFF'. Cheers, Greg

The radio and the power sockets will all stay live till the car shuts down a few minutes after.... when the instrument cluster goes off. Learnt that after I spent £200 on a cooler box that won't stay powered up, even though manual says it should.... Whistle 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

None of the sockets are permanent. You have to mod it if you want that, as Stan says.

Pain in the bum.... suppose as they now seem to struggle to power the clock without the engine running, it might be a good thing. Rolling with laughter 2011 Range Rover Vogue SE 4.4 TDV8

So aside of sockets and ignition, back to my dead rear blower....

I could get a relay, if these are cheap might be worth pulling it and swapping. Anybody know roughly how much LR relays cost? Or would be great to know how I would test it?

Or I look at replacing that part in the picture. I've been through the workshop manual but there's no specific mention of this part. Does anyone know what it is?

Many thanks! Cheers, Greg
