I have to say that my 322 has been brilliant its now on 144k and when I look to change I struggle to find something I want to buy and end up using the cash as a deposit on another property it just seems better value for money and the 322 does everything I need
But then thats me good luck with the choice (if you go 405 and it breaks you will lose all faith in it quickly as your 322 is so good )

The grass always seems greener Sandy... Not seen one that has made me desperate to jump yet (thanks in part due to the woeful responses of franchised sales staff who seem to forget the price of the units they are selling and who generally cannot be ar*#d finding out and communicating anything beyond the content of their often inaccurate online adverts)...

my 2p worth....

I live opposite a posh private school and every morning the road outside is full of yummy mummys dropping off Henry or Jemima along with vast amounts of sports gear, giant cricket bags, musical instruments etc.

The vast majority drive some form of SUV, largely from the Land Rover stable, with a few other usual suspects thrown in including a supremely ugly Bentyaga and a Merc GL63 AMG whose engine shakes all the windows on the road. To my eyes the nicest and most distinctive looking by far are the L322 and Disco 3/4 (and actually the new Volvo XC90) - the latest LR models like the Disco Sport, new Disco and Evoque tend to look a bit samey, not that rugged and are a departure from the more slab sided traditional look of Land Rover and Range Rover. The L405 looks lovely and more modern but maybe not as distinctive as the L322 - its style seems to sit part way between the old and new LR styling and can be hard to tell apart from a RRS at a glance.

It's been a good Un Ryan.

Keep it a couple more years. Then re assess.

That's my plan anyhow!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ

Just voted stick and saw thats the vast majority.

The fear of a lemon and al the cost that entails keeps me in my reliable 'known' L322. Whilst the 405 is a step up in design I dont think its s vastly superior car to own and enjoy over and above a L322 thats doing a good job for you.

I think I would only consider changing if the 322 was becoming expensive to keep on the road. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Thanks ajac... The car has been a pleasure.

One MOT that it sailed through (cars do tend to though if you keep on top of them?), services, recent set of 4 Pirellis, EAS compressor replaced under LR warranty and the usual 'keep on top of it' preventative maintenance.

Looked at a few L405 with Mrs pld when dropping ours off for a service recently and she observed that ours in is better condition than most of the 405 offerings, with the exception of those sitting in the showroom waiting for a first owner Laughing

L405 is a beautiful looking piece of kit and I would enjoy being in one.... HOWEVER, it is going to twist my melons from a reliability, keeping it clean, where do I park it point of view. Thats before the depreciation Very Happy It is only a few of us loonys that can tell a P38 from an L405 so IMHO stick with what you have for a while until 405s have proved themselves Thumbs Up

I haven't voted as I've not really looked at an L405 in-depth.

I do know that if I had the money to change, then I would. The more I look at an L405, the more one appeals.

However, the L322 is incredibly good. The shape is almost timeless and the dynamics more than sufficient for our roads with decent levels of power, torque, refinement and build quality. You get to the point where you need to ask yourself why you'd move away from one other than just for the sheer hell of it?

I imagine many change up due to their older L322's getting to an age, condition or mileage that would entail potentially large bills.

I don't think yours, Ryan, is anywhere near those reasons, but that excludes the emotive side. For now, I think that's your only argument for change. Si. <This is my name.

If I went for a 405, it would have to be petrol - so I'd need to own an oil well first...

After all the problems with the other half's Mondeo, I am never willingly buying a vehicle with a DPF installed.

Looked at an L405 of interest at a MD. Shocking state inside and beyond what their standard valeters would be capable of, notwithstanding damaged interior and exterior trim... and the sale persons fibbed when asked how long the car had been on site ('literally just arrived')... erm, no, it has been there for months! Shocked

Good choice Ryan, well a wise one for sure. I was off to look at a late L322 this morning. Sounds nice, 28k miles, most of the toys, 4.4 AB, 2012. And guess what......

Yep, the F^&*ing L405 won't start. Censored Sat here waiting for Farcical Cars Assist to pitch up.
