4.4TDV8 Hesitant - Software Upgrade LTB00454v2

The RR has experienced very slight and very intermittent hesitance when cruising at motorway speeds. Was told a software upgrade was the answer.

Put the car into the MD today for this upgrade, at cost to us, which is fine, but was then surprised to be told they need to order the software or whatever from LR and can't do it just now. Service advisor said it was an 'air pass' software upgrade that might be the answer and that it is a process of elimination.

I thought there was a definite TSB for this issue and am unimpressed at what sounds like guesswork. Any informed help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

I think, from Topix, this is the one:

Title LTB00454v2 - Engine Hesitation/Powertrain Control Module Update (various issues)

Global reference: LTB00454v2

Navigation path: Bulletins Technical Bulletins 303 - Engine System

Publication date: 11-May-2012 08:08:42

So, if the publication date was 11 May 2012 and I bought as Approved Used, why was it not done and why am I have to pay for it now?

Confused

Technical bulletins advise dealers of potential issues and possible solutions. They aren't a recall as such and would only be done if the problem presented itself. I wouldn't expect the dealer to do them automatically before selling a vehicle but should do them under warranty.

Had mine into the main dealer last week for this issue and they diagnosed a MAP sensor fault and also updated the software, all under the LR approved used warranty.

Runs fine now and no hesitation... Very Happy Very Happy

This has now been done by our servicing dealer at no charge which was decent of them since they are not the dealer who sold us the car.

They didn't mention if it was warranty or good will.

Car feels smoother.

Thumbs Up
