What a horrible situation to be in. Really feel for you..... Neutral I hope it turns out to be better than you first thought.

This 3.6 TDV8 turbo mallarcky, whatever the real cause of the failure is (and I won't open that debate here), really is a sh Censored te customer experience. As these go pop, the vehicles are always well beyond any possibility of warranty.

I hate to see situations like this, really not good enough and it leaves a very sour taste.

As said, good luck with getting it sorted. Thumbs Up 2006 4.2 SC

To be honest the only way to get this fixed for a reasonable amount relative to its value is to do it yourself, an option that is very brave unless you have worked on engines for years. I think your choice is to spend almost its value on fixing it or sell for a lot less. If you do not fix yourself the sell for a lot less will be the best return, if the engine is really blown.
Listing on ebay should get somewhere between 3 and 7 thou, depending on luck. So his loss would be between 5 and 9 thou. A lot but if he rebuilds and it costs 8 thou then he sells it at 12, he only gets 4 back any way, a loss of 8 thou. If it costs more then he is even more in the dumps.
Me, i would just rebuild but then i have rebuilt engine from every decade of last centuary and this centuary from a 1904 yale to a 2016 renault.
