A/C not working.

Now that we're basking in the glorious summer here in Ireland, both days of it, I need to sort out my inoperative A/C which I obviously should have done ages ago.... Rolling Eyes

It's showing the common "air quality sensor line fault" with the IID tool, fuses are all fine, blower in fine, light comes on on the A/C switch but the clutch doesn't seem to be engaging on the pump.

I haven't checked the gas situation yet, but should the sensor on the side of the radiator be my first port of call before looking at anything else?

Many thanks.

I changed the air quality sensor but it had no effect on the air con not working. Its mainly for the air recirculation in the car.

if you have an IIDTool have a look at your air con gas pressure... ______________________________

@dolph34, thanks John, I might look him up.

@ The military guy, thanks for the info., I only have the non BT version, will it still show the pressure? In live values?

Cheers.

Just had mine regassed after fitting a new condenser and it didn't work, pump not engaging I removed the front part of the pump held on with a 10mm headed bolt spayed in some release fluid put it all back together and it worked. Might be worth a try. 2004 td6 Zambezi silver

pip1977 Were you able to remove the clutch pulley in situ or was the pump off the car?
Can anyone confirm the pump is a Sanden and quote the model and part number for a 2007 Vogue air con pump please?

I've just had a look on the GAP website and it does indeed look like you can live test the air con pressure....

Thanks Simon, I had a play with it and it does show "refrigerant pressure", and it's 5.666 so thanks for the info on that.

I've read that that pressure reading is the default reading if the system is low, although it did jump around a bit but seemed to settle at 5.666, I believe this should be about 15-17 bar, perhaps someone can confirm?

Since I only bought it last year I have no idea it has ever been re-gassed so it could have a leak, or, since it's now 11 years old it has just slowly dropped over the years.

I'm also aware of the regulations around re-gassing a system so I need to think about doing it myself with the Halfords kit, or bring it to a garage, which I absolutely hate...... Big Cry

Thanks for the replies and advice, I had a bit of a heart stopping moment after I'd finished with the IID tool last night, after exiting, the display went back to normal showing the time @ 00:00, "Oh holy Censored , what did I do?" thinking I'd inadvertently reset something, or everything........ Shocked Shocked Shocked

Turns out it was midnight....... Embarassed ....... Laughing Laughing Laughing

Hi, I just checked mine as mine isn't working either and mine is 5 bar as well Big Cry

By the way that 'what did I do' syndrome is called rangeroverphobia - and we all suffer from it......I was on my way home today from the diy store and it went bong. My heart dropped and I started imagining all sorts but when I looked down it was only the low fuel you have 31 miles left in the tank warning. It appears my wife also suffers from the oddity that all women suffer from - the I don't know where the fuel filler is Rolling Eyes

Eek........, sorry, hope it's an easy fix for you....

Yes, the dreaded bong, nothing worse than hearing it while driving, I hear it during the winter and before looking down I'm saying to myself, "please let the temp. be below 4 degrees, please, please, please"......

I stupidly let my fuel run very low this week also, I re-flashed the BT ECU at the weekend to automatically connect to my phone and did a battery disconnect after which set my odometer back to zero, I usually reset my odometer after each fuel full to measure MPG and although my fuel gauge works I keep an eye on both but got caught short this week, heard the dreaded "bong", looked down, "Range 49KM"..... Shocked , by the time I reached my destination it was saying "Range --"......not a good feeling......

Interesting, my air-con also doesn't work, I can power the clutch and it works fine straight from the battery but the connector only has 9.2 volts even if the engine is off, (mine also reads ~5.6 bar on the IID tool)

Will look at getting a pressure gauge and a refill kit as both of my cars need doing i think!
