2010 Vogue broken

Hi,

My 2010 Vogue has decided to have another weird failure..
The car is practically dead. I can open up the car using the actual key get into the car and I have to put the fob down by the little light for the car to recognise it.

Once i've finally got it started, pretty much the only thing that works is the speedo and rev counter. If I drive it or leave it running, the odd thing will start working again (like the air vents or electric windows) but the stops after a few seconds.

It had a new battery fitted about 2 months ago and has been fine since.
When the car is running the battery shows 13.59 and when it's not it was showing 12.79.

Any ideas what it could be?

First thing I would suggest is to have the fault codes read as that might point you in the right direction. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

Could it be the body control unit. On earlier models it is the black box under the front passenger seat, maybe the connections need checking. Tom

First step on a modern car with weird problems is to remove the battery connections overnight and charge battery.
Your battery sounds good, 12.8 is fully charged, but it never hurts to charge.
After,60 secs after, both battery leads are disconnected from battery short them out together. This will fully discharge the car.
Next morning reconnect start up and you may find everything works.
Modern electronics do go dolally occasionally, this will reset most problems. It will not cure real problems. But it is amazing how many cars can be fixed by doing this.......

Couldn't get into it this morning using the remote and had to put the key in the special place again but once that was done, the car worked perfectly.
Scanned it and the only permanent issue is the fuel sender unit 2.
Such a pain.

Battery disconnect procedure seems to work for lots of cars. Hope it sorts it out Thumbs Up

Reminds me of the classic, and over used, IT helpdesk response...........

".........have you tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in again Sir. That usually works....."

Its ironic, with a pc or laptop or tablet we expect to turn them off to resolve a problem at least once a month. But cars we expect to run forever without a software glitch, despite them having more computing power in many many places.....
