Where do I stand?

Hi guys,

Well the garage have had my car nine weeks now and they have this week to fix it or I get my money back.

So apart from a full refund of the purchase price can I expect to get the £400 I paid the garage for a warranty?
Also I have spent about £1000 on various bits mainly additional servicing from LR (£750 for all the fluids to be changed)
Can I expect to get that back? I have receipts for proof.

Any similar experiences welcomed.

Thanks
Steve.

Coolant loss, apparently they have changed the egr coolers but it still looses coolant when it gets hot. No dripping on the ground and head gasket is fine. They have said they have checked everything but I don't think they are putting enough hours in, as you probably know everything in these cars takes ages to get to etc..

Have they checked the obvious? Radiator and expansion tank.. if the rad is weeping the coolant will boil off the surface. As a 2007 car you're overdue for a new one anyway.

I put a new expansion tank and cap on myself just before it went in. It is in the hands of there Landrover Expert would of hoped he would have checked the rad in the time he has had it.

Think of the warranty as an insurance policy. You wouldn't get your premium back if it was written off.
It may be transferable to your next car though.
As for the additional costs, it will probably be down to goodwill from the dealer.
If the dealer does not play ball threaten small claims court for losses through goods not being of merchantable quality.

TBH, long before 9 weeks I would have taken it elsewhere.
Hope it gets sorted.

You would not be entitled to money back for things you have spent money on unfortunately.

I had a radiator in mine that was difficult to trace and no more warning lights afterwards

Well two new head gaskets and hopefully that's the end of my lost coolant.

Will get it back Monday.

Cheers
Steve.
