United Kingdom 2004 Range Rover Autobiography 4.4 V8 Zambezi Silver
Urgent help needed please.

I've just replaced the fuel pump and fuel filter today on my 2004 4.4 V8 Autobiography. I've just started it up and it's misfiring horribly, revs going up and down around 1000 - 1200 rpm, throttle does nothing and it's saying "Engine failsafe prog" !

Can anyone help me as I'm stuck now, I double checked everything when reporting so as far as I know all fuel pipes should be fitted ok.

Did you let it run for a while to clear any air locks?

Runs perfectly with maf disconnected, revs as normal and no "Engine Failsafe prog". Reconnect maf and the problem returns along with the "Engine Failsafe prog".

So after cleaning the Maf, it runs ok if I start it up with it disconnected and now when I plug the Mad back in it continues to run ok. If I then switch the engine off then restart, the fault returns along with the "Engine Failsafe prog".

After cleaning the Maf again, it now appears to be running fine. Been for a 30 minute drive and there's no issues. Switched it off and back on, starts fine. Just need to wait and see what it starts like from cold.

I would buy a new Bosch maf from cp4l it was under £100 when I got one - had to clean it every couple of months just got annoying now I don't need to worry.

Ordered a new Maf from Euro car parts for £86 using discount code. For a Bosch one I didn't think that was too bad.
