New Metal Rotary Shifter

Well thanks to Mr Jettec on this thread http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/topic41375.html , I sourced a new metal rotary shifter from the Orient which arrived today.

As Jettec suggested, I bought through Aliexpress.com and got the one that came in a decent box with an allen key and a little tool to lift off the existing black shifter cap. I thought those showed interest on the part of the seller.

Just search 'Range Rover Gear' and it was the $76.00 one. Took a couple of weeks to get to the UK.

The black cap came off after a bit of a fight; you have to be quite controlled and forceful but it's only stuck on and it will pop off. It's quite tough.

Then it's a very easy matter of unscrewing the centre screw, lifting off the old shifter and replacing with the new. There's a keyway on the shifter and it'll only fit one way.

The cover for the new shifter is plastic but looks fine and wont get any wear so hopefully OK.

The nice box and foam insert it in came in will look after your old shifter should you ever need to change it.

Cover just sticks on with supplied double-sided tape.

Anyhoo, pictures speak a thousand words so see below.

Looks great!

Sometimes a bit scary ordering things from the 'ali-bay"

Wondering if this will fit a L322 with Rotary Shift.... Hmmmm.

Any chance we can have a before and after?

. Cheers, Greg

Thanks, and I think it looks better in the flesh than in the pic.

No info on L322 compatibility I'm afraid and I put away the old one.

There must be dozens of photos of befores I would have thought, I just had the standard alloy/rubberised sort of shifter.

Thanks. I don't know how hard-wearing it will be but it looks well-enough finished to last.

The plastic top shouldn't get any wear at all.

And each to their own Stan!

AM Tony, no I don't think that's quite the same. The cap is smooth in the pic you show, mine's got the same effect on the cap and on the sides of the shifter.

I did copy the URL but when I pasted it it was about 6 lines long.

Anyone know how to do a link on here?
