United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Java Black

Hi Alex,

Hopefully you've got your problem resolved by now, but in case it's not.....

I did a lot of thinking about your problem, as it you originally described it, when I was stripping down my throttle body assembly prior to removing my supercharger yesterday. Is it possible that the small bore hose (I don't know if it is pressurised or vacuum) from the supercharger distribution duct (for want of a better description) {pic 1} became dislodged from the 90 degree connection on the electrical sensor? (I don't know what it is) {pics 2 & 3} when you ran out of fuel? This is quite probable if you experienced any form of misfire/back fire because it is a very loose fit on mine.
I don't know what the switch/sensor is for, but it is located roughly behind the glove-box, where you said the noise originated, and if disconnected would possibly blow supercharged, but un-metered, air to atmosphere. This could well explain the escaping air noise sounding like an open relief valve and might explain the extra/over fueling because the pressure is less now after the sensors!??!

Hopefully my pictures will help you understand my poor explanation, if not please be gentle when you tear it to pieces.
Cheers,

Well LR phoned today after I sent his through to them.

They found a split pipe that was in that same area

Tested and they say it is all ok so good enough for me.

Currently on holiday and spent a few days thinking of what car I will replace it with.

Hopefully won't have to now.

Good information to check and fingers crossed all sorted.

LR have had my car once the 7th of July and the total cost to repair is £180 so well happy with that.

Cheers Alex

Back from holiday last night and drove the car this morning for the first time, no air noise, no lack of power and fuel consumption back to where it should be.

Fingers crossed everything all ok.

Will drive it for a week or two and make sure all is well and then look at changing the oil in the supercharger as has been recommended.

Thanks for all the help and suggestions Thumbs Up Alex
