Any idea how much your son's garage charges Stan?

I've got these quotes:

Land Rover Specialist
- Forced Regen £75 (90% chance that'll work)
(pros: pretty tempting as zero intrusion, Land Rover specialists
cons: may not work. won't clean the DPF fully, slight risk of diluting the oil)

DPF Specialists:
- In-Situ Clean: £200 and £275
(pros: also not very intrusive, cons: not sure yet)

- Removal, Clean, Refit and Reset all codes/settings:
Four quotes: £230, £350 (with guarantee), £400 and £516
(cons: exhaust needs to be cut to get it out pros: will be like new but some say chemicals will damage the DPF )

. Cheers, Greg

Thanks Stan - seems to be the lower end of the going rate.
Mike - yes I've PM'd him, thanks a lot. Heard nothing back, my PM to him is still unread

,

Having my DPF cut out and 'Flash" cleaned today at a turbo/egr/dpf specialist. Straight away the guy says the exhaust temp sensor needs to be done (Fault: P040D-00(2F) Exhaust Gas Recirculation Temperature Sensor A Circuit High, see higher up), it will affect the way the ECU manages DPF Regen.

The LR workshop manual shows the following proceedure:

Cut out:

3 cuts, X marks the spot:

Clamps to refit:

....which I asked them to follow.

Hoping I'll be able report back with thumps up. He reckons it'll be ready by 12 which is pretty good.

.

. Cheers, Greg

Best wishes Greg.
Are they going to change the P.O. 40 -D sensor today?
Finally,I would do an oil change ASAP irrespective of mileage done to flush out any diesel contamination oil that may be in there by attempted regens.

Thanks Mike, They want to clean the DPF first but and the are going to see if they can pull the sensor and check it. Might be a separate job.

Greg,
Sorry to keep asking questions, but one request please....
Can you record the live values on your iid when it is repaired, so that we have all got a good “reference “ figure.

Sure Mike. I'll be interested too. If you go back one page on this thread you'll see a screen grab. It shows my Non-Continuos Soot Mass at 31.5g which is very high. Yours I remember was 12 I think.

On that screen grab you can see my duff sensor (the one reading temp as 100º)

I've also been reading a lot about soot vs ash. Regents clear soot but ash builds up. Only physical cleaning can remove this.

At 107k miles it's fine to remove and clean I think. Especially given my city driving. I never even really get on the motorway.

Nobody told me when I was buying a diesel that I probably shouldn't have bought a diesel. But it's soooooooo nice, even with all these DPF issues, it's still the

BEST. CAR. EVER.

. Cheers, Greg

Greg,
I have just returned from a 400+mile holiday , finishing off with 120 motorway miles, so here are my readings this morning before I do my usual local trips.

Your DPF is pretty happy!

I see you're only monitoring one of the four EGR sensors. It's on the other bank to mine. Do you monitor that particular one because it's your duff one?
. Cheers, Greg
