I'd go for a slightly better quality than Britpart - try a local motor factors for Mann+Hummel or UFI.

On all vehicles I tend to use genuine parts as a matter of course. In some cases OEM equivalent parts are good enough. But, for example - An original air filter from the manufacturer does tend to have a greater surface area than aftermarket parts.
My local LR dealer gives me trade discount on all parts I order from them, including service parts which works out well.
Ultimately, it's all about personal preference...but I would only ever fit manufacturer service parts.
I do find the best way to go about it is to have the part numbers in advance.
I am a motor trader, and my business is primarily selling vehicles, but I regularly service and maintain an array of vehicles. I do find taking my trade plates with me to unfamiliar main dealer parts departments and the correct part numbers always gets me good discount. Any local members to me in Oxford are more than welcome to take advantage of this Thumbs Up

I own a defender as well and the chap who looks after my defender won't touch anything from britpart, they don't seem to have the best reputation, like someone else said above either try genuine or 'allmakes' now do a 'premium' or something like that! range which is supposed to be good, they might be worth a try

on other LR forums they are often referred to as Sh!tpart Shocked

however, have used them myself for none critical parts like mudflaps on other LR's, as far as filters are concerned buy genuine and push for a discount

Yep - defo none critical parts. I'd rather set my nuts on fire than use their bits on anything linked to steering , suspension or brakes.

I do tend to migrate toward Landrover parts unless they are taking the preverbial.. like £45 for a £5 bearing Power steering pump on my Classic V8, and that was going back probably over 12 years ago. 2010 Disco XS TDV6, 2009 Freelander 2 GS

It's worth noting that Land Rover do not make these parts. It's also worth noting that the quality of Genuine parts often leaves a lot to be desired (Especially the BMW parts) - to the extent that some of the 3rd party parts are better quality than genuine because they have been re-designed to not fail within warranty etc.

yea, land rover will mostly contract it out and add profit to the costs, although you would expect tighter quality control from them.

Googled Britparts, very mixed reviews to say the least... Laughing

Well i have a mann filter holding in 90quids worth of oil so thats good...

The britpart air filter i handled looked fine and 100% better than the dirty land rover one that came out, cant really see whats going on inside the britpart fuelfilter but seems ok for now, ill just swap it earlier say 6k. 2004 black Vogue TD6

I've worked in and managed repair shops specializing in MB, BMW, Porsche, and LR in the US and in Europe (including main dealers).

You need to do more research. Unless you have too much money.

I service my own and I get the oils and filters from Opie Oils with a club discount. Other consumables that are needed I get from whichever supplier that has the best deal and postage rates going at the time.
