Genuine 20" Stormer Alloys

I know that these wheels are generally used on RRSs but can also be fitted to FFRRs but can you fit different width tyres on them. Most I have seen for sale are fitted with 275 tyres but could you also fit them with 255 wdith tyres or would that cause problems? FFRR TD6 HSE

stormers are wider than normal FFRR wheels - 255 will be too vulnerable / narrow for them - you can fit them but they will get knackered very very quickly

also don't let anybody sell you RRS size tyres the FF has a higher profile for 20" rims e.g. 255/50/20

RRS uses lower profile - if you deviate from the rolling radius of this size your speedo will not read accurately by about 10% depending on which profile you use.

Go on line and you can find a tyre profile checker which illustrates the different rolling radius for different profiles and rims

I once bought a FFRR with Stormers and 295 width tyres fitted. They were worn so I changed them to 275 which are perfect for stormers but do have a smaller rolling radius on the FFRR as Vogue pointed out. Best stick with wheels designed for the Full Fat.

Thanks lads. I'll be following that advice when I get some new wheels. FFRR TD6 HSE

Also the RRS 20" wheels are all incredibly easy to ding/scuff with RRS sized tyres on - in nearly 3 years of owning mine I had the full set of wheels refurbed twice while I had the winter wheels on. The winter wheels were 19" with higher profile tyres and I never managed to get them scuffed once, even when I took the car offroad on the Keilder forest drive last February! 2018 Mini Countryman Cooper S E All4 PHEV in Melting Silver - it’s whisper quiet in EV and polluter modes

one of the advantages of RRS wheels is that they are 9.5j wide as opposed to the standard FFRR wheels which are 8.5j and the offset is different by 3mm so the wheels will stick out more..this aint a bad thing as the FFRR looks visually better with the wheels filling the wheel arches more than the FFRR wheels..
i have 295/45/20 tyres on RRS wheels and it looks good and taking the fact that they are wider i tend to allow for that when parking and i have still to kerb them...

does look nice scarey. I do like the stormer alloys and have seen them on other FFRR and been impressed.
However I think the 7 spoke vogue alloys from about 2007ish look equally good. Prob gunna be another 3-4 months before I get a new lot anyway so we'll see whats about then. FFRR TD6 HSE
