Looking back at the recent facelifts of other Land Rover or Range Rover models, I'm struggling to think of any one that involved metalwork changes, beyond changes so small you'd never notice (such as the front wings changed, imperceptibly, on the D4 at one facelift). The costs and manufacturing disruption of changes to the lights, grille and bumpers can normally be passed on to the unfortunate suppliers! Rolling Eyes

Body will probably remain the same with new bumpers, new grille, head and tail lights, maybe a redesign/relocation/removal of the fake side vents, I've noticed on a few pictures of running prototypes of the MY18 that the fake plastic vent stuck on the bonnet has gone too. Some new wheels, engines, some new tech taken from the VELAR for the interior et voilą!
Let's hope they keep the 5.0L V8 Supercharged (preferably in SVR tune) without any hybrid nonsense and I might be up for a new one.

I just heard from the local dealer today that the 2018 facelift would be presented late August / beg. of Sept. At least before the IAA motor show in Frankfurt. He said that the el-motor (EDM) just had 100 hp (in addition to the 295hp 4cyl petrol engine), but still 50km pure electrical range. I said that the hp-figures in the media has been 201+295, but he said that was not correct.
If the el-motor just has 100 hp, I think this combo isn't very promising...

Any thoughts on when the MY 18 will be announced?

Frankfurt Motor show is a couple of days away. Will it be there? Not being talked about at all though.

We're going to the IAA Motor show in Frankfurt next week - I really hope that the PEHV (or facelift) L405 will be at the show.

I saw the rear end of an undisguised MY18 inside the factory at Solihull this morning. I wasn't allowed to take a photo.

The only difference that I could see was that the rear lamps were very different, being dominated by two square chrome "rings" where the existing square inserts to the lamps are; inside and around those rings there was a lot of red. The lights looked larger and almost swollen after the current ones. It wasn't a good look.

Oh Dear!
Are the front and rear lights still tapering on the side?
Did you see the front? Is this any different? Does it look anything like the Photoshopped picture at the beginning of this thread?
Are the fake vents on the front doors still there or have they moved/been deleted?
Did you gather anymore info as to when it will be launched/engines available?

Yes plenty! Quite exciting someone's actually seen it undisguised! Can you PLEASE tell us more Red Merle? A bit disappointed that RM didn't think it looked good though!

Wish that I could tell you more, but all I got to see was a disguised car, square on from the front and an undisguised car, square on from the rear.

It was pretty apparent that the headlamps were very similar to the Velar ones, but the only thing that I could clearly see was the back, where the only apparent change was the lights, which I'd described before. It was in the final inspection bay and was about 30 meters away from where I was standing. There didn't seem to be any metalwork changes, but they did seem a bit over large and bulky, like those on the back of a MINI Countryman Shocked

It won't have the same appearance as the VELAR. Some design features and tech from the VELAR but I can't imagine the low roof line, the rear lights for instance being taken over. My guess is new front and rear lights, redesigned side vents, front and rear bumpers, double touchscreen like in the VELAR and some new engines. Hopefully along the hybrid versions, there will be the uprated 5.0L Supercharged engine from the facelifted Sport SVR.
