smartrack or cobra track?

So my insurance company insist i have a tracker fitted to my new (as yet undelivered) vogue.

Dealer quoting £450 plus VAT plus contract

google suggests that mobile operators will fit these for under half that (my dealer users a mobile operator also)

anyone got experience of either unit/service?

I did search the forum for both names before posting this Wink Gerry

cant comment on the two types but i would probably go to a depot rather than someone come to my house and fit...these trackers need to be put somewhere where the 'thief' cant find it so there would be a fair amount of vehicle stripping down and doing that on a rainy day aint the right thing to do...

My insurance is still under 1k on the rangies each. 2007 TDV8 Vogue SE

i will certainly shop around for new companies come September when my current policy expires.
for now though i just need to upgrade to cover the FFRR.
my car is delivered to the dealer for collection this saturday, but as i will be away on business until 24th, it will be possible for a company to fit the unit at the dealers. they are ok with this.

i also looked at some online sites, including Adrian flux, and was getting quotes of around 2K without a tracker (bizarre due to my age, history etc)

so it looks like a tracker is the way forward

i will definitely give Ben a call today, and mention you guys put me on to him Gerry

I think I remember reading somewhere that the tracker companies were owned by a couple of the big insurance companies so some insurance companies will insist you have one (for their own interests). 2021 P400 Silicon Silver AB

dunno about the caravan mate, to many on the road as it is.[waits for backlash]

the best trackers use a combination of vhf and gps [i think]

he would have to sell me a tow bar kit also, and muster the desire to go caravaning in the first place.

think ill stick with just a tracker for now Gerry
