Quite right, you can't see the vents in the mirror, but you do get a reflection of the air vent in the door window glass which is right in line with where you look through the glass at your door mirror.

Next time at night take a look and you can just see the silver vent surround in the reflection. An illuminated bulb reflection would be more distracting and perhaps look like another vehicle light in your mirror...

By the way, I totally agree with the scissor jack comment! Mine is only fit for the bin now.

Does anybody have part number for the bulb that illuminates the two dots on the central vents (02MY) as mine has failed?

I've got the bulb out, but the dealer says it only comes with the complete middle vent - £213 !!!

Any ideas or alternatives?

Many thanks

Scary
Thanks for the prompt reply, RAVE tells me how to get the vents out, which I've done, and I've located and removed the bulb. What I can't get is the part number for the bulb without the complete assembly, or a suitable alternative.

Can you post a photo of it (next to a ruler)

Or take a wander round halfords - compare it to the dash bulbs they have there...

Cool !

Trying to get a photo I've found some markings on it. It looks like it's a BMW part (no surprise), so I might try them.

Markings are:-

AMP F
0-963 651-1
BMW
8 332 935
