Deployable steps were not available on the hybrid, something todo with the location of the batteries and the anchorage point for the steps, lets hope when the new phev arrives they eliminate this issue!

I have the "old" Hybrid its 2015 Euro 6 model , I bought it 3 months ago . Its obviously not as good as a full plug in hybrid but its quite novel in the way it works . You can arrive in a city centre and put it in EV mode and watch the average fuel trip go UP as you trundle about the streets all on power generated on the over run and during braking . I am going to investigate getting a 2nd larger capacity high voltage battery as the factory one is only very small . It starts off in EV mode with the engine only kicking in if you need more acceleration , makes manoeuvring round car parks total silent people stare at you its so quiet .

Nice one Charlie, I quite like the idea of the electric motor in the 405 and the Sild Road models.

Would you mind sharing some pics, please? Have you got the dedicated wheels on it?

Also, what did you make choose this model, knowing the range is very limited? thanks l=Oo\________/oO=l l:OolΞΞΞΞΞΞΞloO:l

I set out looking for a all black interior with opening roof and any exterior colour that was not black and a V6 rather than the V8 , but then I found this car with all the spec I wanted the hybrid was just the icing on the cake ! Yes the road wheels are specific to this model . I previously had a BMW X3 .

I actually put in an order for the old hybrid this time last year for October delivery. it then became November, then December. Then Q1. Then they stopped making them.

I was told to wait until news came out. I assumed that this would be a major announcement for the MY18. It would seem so. However, I might put myself in the Volvo XC90 T8 w\for a year or two and see how these MY18 PHEVs go.

From experience, an XC90 is very much not a Range Rover.

The new XC90 T8 gets very good reviews, at least when loaded with extras (air suspension, massage comfort seats, Bowers & Wilkins, laminated side windows, assistance systems etc). Maybe it's not as good as the L405 off-road, but the reliability might be better?

However, if it's true that the new L405 PHEV only will get a 100 hp el-motor (ref http://www.fullfatrr.com/forum/post449072.html#449072) in addition to the new 2.0-litre four-cylinder Ingenium engine, that's not very appealing... Confused

I really hope that the leaked news on the web is correct (https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-car...ed-testing - that the PHEV will get a 201 hp el-motor giving 450Nm extra torque to the Ingenium engine.

Saw a lot of the xc90's in varying specs in Sweden the other week. Very nice car.

I'm quite tempted by the T8 version......when upgrade time comes! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I don't understand the attraction of the XC90 Confused I'm not anti Volvo, I owned three new V70's before my first LR and loved them, while there have been Volvo's in the family since 1973!

I sat in one before I bought my last D4 and apart from the typically good Volvo seats and the gimmicky and impractical touch pad screen, it seemed very ordinary. The lack of stadium seating was the worst omission but, other than that, it seemed like a very ordinary MPV on the inside, with 4x4 styling on the outside.

There's a lot to like about the XC90, but it's essentially a tall estate car. Doesn't ride well, even on air suspension, and suffers from pretty awful road/tyre noise (on 20" wheels, at least) which completely spoils the refinement (there's little wind noise, rattly 4 cylinder diesel is quiet at cruise). Witnessed quite a few (minor, but annoying) software/electronic glitches too. The interior is good, and materials aren't bad, but it doesn't feel special.

Prefer the V90 Cross Country (which is essentially the same car, minus "SUV" pretensions).
