3 months to the day since last updating this thread. The/ this L405 is a fine car.

A wee twilight winter wash to clear the muddy waters that today surround the 3.0 TDV6, the crankshaft and the LR warranty.

No rar... an increased awareness thanks to the forum has resulted in uncertainty as to whether or not it would be covered in the event of a failure:

Well I will be visiting my local dealer this week to try and get an answer unless someone comes up with one before hand. I think it’s unlikely to fail and even if it did I wouldn’t be devastated if the warranty covered it . If it is proved that Landrover don’t cover it then it will be goodbye from me .

6 month update

6 months in now and two 'threads' to report:

Thread 1 - there are outstanding 'snags' on the to do list which have been present from the point of sale. After months of promises to address them, during November, they had the car in for a full day to sort them out, allegedly having ordered parts to do so. They returned the car to us admitting they had actually done nothing that day to progress any of the snags, offering various reasons as to why they had wasted our time. They apologised for that and said they would be in touch to re-book. Never to be heard from again. An overdue complaint was made to the selling LR DP. Resulted in an apology, an acceptance that the after sales service was poor and an assurance that they would resolve all issues. That was in December and still nothing has been done.

Thread 2 - no problems have arisen with the day to day running of the car which performs brilliantly, looks good inside and out, feels very plush and is excellent all round. The 3.0 TDv6 engine is great, compliments the steering set up, combining to make the car feel responsive, agile and plenty powerful. The 3.0 suits the car very well on all road types regardless of the weather - around town, on open roads and motorways (not used it off road or towed with it so can't comment, although it does have deployable tow bar).

The L405 is a very nice car. Highly recommended Thumbs Up

Remembered to put Gummi Pflege on the door seals today... For next winter! Better late than never Whistle

Seem to be using Gonna Go Double's top tip of wiping the ivory coloured leather seats with a Woolite solution every week now (to remove blue dye transfer from the driver's seat bolster in particular). Easy enough to do though, very effective and keeps it pristine.

Thumbs Up

Just let me know when you feel like going back to a 322 and i will happily swap with you...... Wink

Glad you are enjoying the 405 experience. I was planning on dipping the big toe into the water but its looking more and more likely that i will be building a new house next year! and i will need all my pennies for that. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Thread 1 (snags) - only thing to report very disco is that the car is now due to go in for the snags to be addressed at the end of this month.

Additionally, a recent link that Stan posted resulted in my VIN submission flagging up a safety recall from February 2018, although yet to establish what it's for Question

Thread 2 (no problems day to day/ car seems great) - status quo there. Considering having the exterior bodywork panels professionally detailed this month. Might wait until it has been to the main dealer though... Our silver L322 once ended up with a complete new back end when a main dealer technician accidentally reversed a Defender across the workshop floor and into our car when it was being worked on Shocked

Not inclined to swap yet nmj Thumbs Up

Very disco, that videos superb on so many levels.
The car looks great, just a shame the guy doesn't yet know how to use it Laughing
Classic comment about getting scared when his car has more than 4k miles on it Rolling with laughter

The 2016 405 spec looked stunning to me,but the 18 certainly raises the bar Cool Too many toys, not enough time
