United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Vogue TDV8 Orkney Grey
L405 Road Tax

Just been browsing my local stealer web site, three 405's a 14my, 16my and a 17my all 4.4 SDV8's, all with different road tax amounts?

Can someone in the know explain the logic behind this please? Current: TDV8 (3.6) RRS HSE

i think the 3 litre is around £280 and the 4.4's are £520'ish....didn't know there were other rates.. ... - .- -.

Ad-blue and stop/start are things which affect the emissions. None on early cars but later cars have both.

16 = £305
17 = £450

Ad-blue was introduced with stop start on the 4.4 MY 2015.5, which reduced the rate.
April this year, the system was changed to a fixed amount(£140) plus £310 for 5 years. This applies to all cars with a list above £40k. After 5 years it drops back to £140.

It's a stupid system, now. There's no incentive to buy a more efficient car if it's over 40k.

There is an incentive, as the first year rate is set by the CO2 emmissions:

However, when spending RR money, would a one off saving of £1,000 be enough incentive to buy a rubbish car, over a nice one?

ah there's the explanation!! thanks very much. I thought the last one would be to do with the new tax brackets. if I was buying a new RR I'd be getting the dealer to stump up for the first year tax as part of the deal.

You don't notice is so much with a new car as the price that you've got used to the idea of includes the first year's RFL anyway!
