Finding the ideal used car

So, I'm looking for a L405 2013 or 2014 model, and I've found the search through approved used dealers a bit frustrating. Given the horror stories everywhere it appears that a JLR Approved Used warranty is a must, so I haven't tried independent dealers.
However, every car I've telephoned about (five or six now) from the official website has been sold. Why don't they update their website - even if it's to state "under offer" (sales sometimes fall through, I guess)?

I've also given my requirements to four dealers so far, with a promise to "get back to you with suitable vehicles in the network" but only one has got back to me. My desired spec isn't too weird (Vogue SE, dark with ivory interior), but yeah maybe there is limited stock. Who knew that spending £50k would be so tricky (1st world problem, I accept)?

Does anyone have any tips about how to find the car they want from the main dealer network?

Mike.

I would try Autotrader and then narrow down to Main Dealer only. All LR Main Dealers use AT. Those cars should be available. Thumbs Up

Dealers will often leave sold stock up on the site, without marking it as sold, if only for the enquiries that the adverts will generate.

Its interesting that you say what you do as with any main dealer who can't sell you something pretty quickly, usually from their own stock, it's shocking how quickly they lose interest and it will be up to you to do the legwork.

If you use the LR UK approved used website, the stock is often out of date.

If you target particular main dealer garages, their stock tends to be more up to date online.

So you can target main dealer groups like Hunters, Guy Salmon, Farnell, Lloyd, Stratstone etc

I agree with @pld118. My car was still on the JLR site 10 days after I'd been looking at it on my drive! But the dealers own site did show it as "reserved" which at least is one step forward..

Good luck with your search, I'd have thought at that budget there shouldn't be a problem finding one, but what do I know!

You'd think so Gary, yes. But, for example, there's one on Auto Trader (in Yeovil) that I know for a fact was sold earlier this week. It's unhelpful when these ads are left "live".
