Shocking standard stereo

What a total pile of crap the standard system in the vogue is , switching itself off , screen appears to have 4 colour settings which it decides for itself which it wants to use , the sound vanishes for no reason , the date randomly disappears , i could go on but it annoys the sh**e out of me 😠

+15 years and all original kit still going strong, loud enough and clear enough. Radio/Tape/CD/TV and video (in motion, for passengers) if I want it, and original SatNav still fine.

Worth spending some time in the Left Rear cubby cleaning everything up, and making sure there is no damp back there. .
Experience is the only genuine knowledge, but as time passes, I have forgotten more than I can remember Wink

They are prone to damp and leaks in the rear left cubby where the amp, sat nav and tv etc are. The connector plugs and pins can get damp and corroded. Unplug each plug on the units, one by one, with the car turned off and dry them out or use switch cleaner etc.....

Never had a DVD player fitted from factory so I hope it's not that being wired in that's done it. Though you could technically have one fitted as factory as part of the Autobiography options, with the screens in the front seat backrests.....

I don't know what you are intending to test with a multimeter.

I was an electronics tech and I'm not sure where I'd start with the symptoms you describe. I think I'd be searching the BMW forums to see if anyone else has similar symptoms on their vehicles. Ron B. VK2OTC

Yes, but I'd use my audio oscillator and oscilloscope for starters.

About all you can check with a multimeter is cable continuity/resistance and supply voltage. Ron B. VK2OTC

ok , so if I get readings for them on every pin from the amp , does that not suggest its functioning properly ?
