Wow, this owner must have more money than sense as the car is worth even less now with the desecration of the paintwork!

I'd still take it off his hands for 50 quid! Rolling with laughter

United Kingdom 2006 Range Rover Supercharged 4.2 SC V8 Cairns Blue

Mr Bath said: 'The dashboard of this car is like a Christmas tree with all the lights and I want other people to know what a terrible car it is before they buy it.

'I've only had it for 10 months and we've had nothing but problems. We had had it for six weeks when the yellow light first came on saying I had to drive the car for thirty minutes at 50mph.

'No-one told me this when I bought the car. Where can you do that in London? Range Rover haven't done anything to help me so I thought what better place to park it than on Berkley Street in Mayfair?

'I bought it from the [Stratstone of Mayfair] showroom across the road so I thought I'd park it outside. I keep going in and they just tell me it's a legal matter.

'Range Rover has said they will repair the car for free for me, but what they don't understand is that the car isn't registered in the UK so I have to pay £25 per day for parking, £11.50 in congestion tax and hire a car. This in total costs me £1000 so it isn't free.
'If they don't do something in the next few weeks, I will hire a film studio, invite the media and burn it live on camera.'

Mr Bath, 30, is an Indian diplomat and regularly travels abroad for work. Currently out of the country, he has been told by friends of the attention his stunt has attracted.
He said: 'I knew the graffiti and signs would attract a lot of attention and I wanted to warn people not to buy a Range Rover. This is the perfect place to park to get them to do something.
'It cost me over £70,000 and I'm really upset with the way they are dealing with me. I've had many calls today from Range Rover asking me to remove the car because it is damaging their brand. For work, I travel around a lot and I'm often out of the country.'

A spokesman for Land Rover said: 'The customer is complaining of a full DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) owing to the urban cycle the vehicle has been used on, which would be the case in any diesel with a DPF.
'There is no fault with the vehicle. Land Rover is trying to work with the customer to bring the situation to a mutually satisfactory conclusion.'

You have to feel sorry for the poor guy though, he obviously hasnt realised that there are roads and Motorways beyond the confines of Mayfair, perhaps he cannot read as he obviously hasnt read the owners manual.........

If the DPF is the only issue he has with the car, or is the cause of all the problems than I don't really have much sympathy for him, just take it for a good bloody drive, or buy something else.

^ Maybe not.

Normally, any and all DPF and EGR issues aren't covered by warranty (when they become clogged, that is) so LR is actually making a reasonable attempt to resolve this.

After all, it only needs a regen cycle......a case of read the F Censored owner's manual.

A thirty minute drive at 50mph every few weeks isn't exactly hard to do if you plan it.

Burn it and watch whilst he's arrested live.

Not the best thing to threaten to torch something in London given the threat level..... just saying and all that Smile

I would have said the car owner has a point about the need to regularly regenerate the PDF by going for a run at 50mph.
IMO what a rediculous imposition to impose on the owner of a modern car. Strikes me as being a definite design flaw that should be remedied another way.

All modern diesels with dpf systems have to go through a regeneration cycle to clear them out and that requires sufficiently high temperatures.

I used a diagnostic system plugged into a previous car of mine to force a regeneration cycle because it was throwing up error codes. I cringed when the system just cranked the engine up to 3000rpm for a full 15 minutes whilst it sat on my drive. Shocked

Thankfully I have an understanding neighbour Whistle

A pleasant 30 minute drive every so often is much more sensible Thumbs Up 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography
