I could drive by the time i was 12, on private land.

My son who who is 11 has had his first lessons in an old petrol Defender. Surprising how tolerant that engine is to a learner. Very very difficult to stall.

Me too. I used to drive tractors regularly from then on too. Gives you an advantage when taking to the road as you have already got to grips with clutch control, manouvering, and general vehicle spatial awareness.

Learnt to drive a tractor mower at about 10. Not sure that counts though. But it did help with steering braking and POWER!! There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

I bought my first car in 1960 when I was 12. It was a Morris Z utility and cost me 5 quid. I drove it around my grandfather's property.

I picked a lot of strawberries at the farm across the road to earn that fiver. Laughing

Then moved up to bigger stuff, Massey 185 Whistle
Those were the days Thumbs Up
Got on a new Claas tractor the other day and couldn't figure out how to start the thing, how times have changed Laughing
