I didnt think that would be at fault either, but the tv is now acting up. They are going to try the part and if it doesnt work I dont pay-so im happy for them to try it. Ill keep you posted.

I have to admit that with all the things that I tried, I didn't try this! - I did try without the satnav though and that had no impact.

This has made me wonder what draws the DSP menus - I should have checked as one thing that I did notice is that the DSP menus, with new DSP's, were not functionning correctly - ie I could not change presets. Could it be that the DSP relies on the TV for its interface - its such a botch of a system that anything is possible.

Waiting with baited breath for your update (and hoping that the dealer gives you honest feedback when they do find the problem).

BTW, as a side note, agree with SteveM - the TV module is obsolete anyway with digital TV so easier to just take it out of the loop and save the expense unless it is essential or to replace it with a hybrid module (but they are only available from BMW so the dealer cannot get).

SUCCESS!!

So the car went back into Land Rover they replaced the TV module then phoned me at 11am to say it had no effect on the sound. They then suggested that the DSP was faulty. I told them that it was brand new from them 5 weeks ago. He then said that they would investigate further and call me back. At 4pm I got the call saying the car was ready.
But when I went in to collect they wouldnt let me speak to the 'technician' to find out exactly what the problem was. All I was told was they reprogrammed everything in the entertainment system twice and it has worked. Which says to me they dont entirely know themselves what the issue was. Think they were just happy that its working.

So rule of thumb-if you dont have DSP as an option on your screen-replace the DSP,if you still have problems, then replace the BM54 professional or becker (they both work) if its still not working or like me on full volume its very faint. Get them to reprogramme everything.

So it looks like this problem is a s/w or f/w issue! (compatibility?)

Out of interest, which dealer fixed it and how much did it cost? - it looks like I may have to go down the same route, but have avoided the dealers until now as troubleshooting this takes ages and I imagine the bill is hefty.

SteveM - did you ever get any feedback from your specialist?

They spent a day on the car, but in the previous visit they broke the tv module. So to pay for the day they spent on it we struck up a deal-I could either pay for a days labour or the price of a tv module. I opted for the tv module. But if you take your car to a dealer and state that everything needs reprogrammed they would probably only take a couple of hours labour. My dealers done it the long way by trying everything else first then eventually giving in and going for the reprogramming option. The dealers are Taggarts in Scotland.
Only issue ive had is the sat nav hasnt been quite right, but that will be getting addressed. Iv spoke about that in another thread.

I wonder if the new units are either shipped without any "configuration", or if there is a software option that requires a soft boot once installed - clearly there is something that the dealers are not aware of, but that is fixed easily by using testbook
