Winter Tyre Sizes

Has anybody tried 255/60 r19 tyres on a RR/Discovery 3/4 with the slightly taller aspect ratio? (ignoring speedo lack of accuracy)

I like Cooper Weathermaster tyres and have them on the wife's D3 with 20" wheels but mine has 19" and Cooper do not make the tyre in 255/55 r19.

I'm running my 20's on 255.55.20s instead of the 255.50.20s and much prefer it, having that extra 1" of sidewall.

I would love to try it on 255.60.19s as I reckon this would be such a nice smooth riding set up.

The extra 1" of sidewall on the 20s made the ride superb, another 1" of tyre would be even better, but could only do that dropping to 19's.

Look forward to hearing if someone is running that set up. Porsche 911 (996)

You mean 255/60 r19? (or 255/55 r19)

RR are fine on 19" of course much softer ride.

Are there any issues with fit / turning circle with the 1" extra? Sounds appealing for my winter tyres as especially out here we have some outstanding potholes.

gonna have to use the wheels on the car - which I think are 20s ... or am I wrong? You might be able to see better than me! Probably going to get Michelin Latitude Alpins as had them before and excellent for conditions out here. Yeah I meant 255.60.19 Gary.

Going from the 19's to the 20s you could feel the comfort lost, as you would expect, but going to over sized tyres on the 20s, 55 profile instead of the 50 profile that comfort came back, and no there is no rubbing issues at all Gavin.

I would be really interested to hear people thoughts on the ride with 19 and also over sized, I reckon it would be really nice, as long as you want comfort from your RR rather than a 'sporty' firmer ride of course. Porsche 911 (996)

Lots of choice in 20" but I like the Cooper & the Nokian having tried and loved both...(Also tried the Vredestein which also work well but don't look very aggressive)

All Season are not really winter tyres and so not comply with ski resort rules etc...

Got you, I thought you meant they were a good price/way to try out the over sized 19" rather than looking at winter options as such. Thumbs Up

I have to say I am a huge fan of Vredestein winter tyres, in fact I run me E350 estate on the Wintrac Extreme S all year round, they are very comfy and very, very quiet, plus a good price.

I had Michilen Alpins last time and they were ok, and Conti WinterContacts before that which I didn't like at all. Porsche 911 (996)

Only half an inch extra sidewall.
