Had I seen those cameras before I did my conversion, I'd have gone that route. Confused

Why didn't you wire the camera input into the rear view camera input in the TV tuner module in the rear compartment? Ron B. VK2OTC

Yes, the camera does automatically turn on when you put in reverse. This is done automatically by enabling it in the CCF files. This is shown in pic 5 where it has "take care in manoeuvring" the top of the image.
Works nicely in the dark too, although I have upped the wattage of my reversing lights.
Best wishes
Glen

Answer for P38 rover

This is because that facility I believe is only available up to 2004 MY (prob up to around 53 plate) with a blue plug on the TV module and a different head unit, as far as my research goes it won't work 54 plate ish onwards....

The later ones from 2005 MY (54 plate) have a different wiring (MOST) system. There is a grey plug on the top with lots of spare connections, would be great to find out if any of those are aux or video inputs. Anybody here worked out what the spare grey connections are for?

Best wishes
Glen

This looks really good to me and I'm going to give it a punt. Just wondering, would the picture angle be better/different if I tried to mount a similar type camera under the rear spoiler like the 2005 on models?

I don't think it works that well under the spoiler. The angle of the boot lid means it masks the last foot or so up to the bumper, so if you need it for tight parking or in my case reversing up to a trailer without smashing the bumper, I wanted to see all the way to the ball/bumper

Best wishes
Glen

Aha! I don't understand the plate number system. It's much easier for us foreigners when you use model years. Ron B. VK2OTC

you see that red wire hanging out of the yellow connectors.

This red wire can be used to power the camera from front to rear. (and avoid extra wires though the tailgate)

2A fuse recommended

I recommend you DON'T use the reversing light wire, so the camera can still operate when in Drive/manuourving.

Connect it to Acc or Ign or cigar lighter feed

So, does this mean my 53 plate should be plug and play? As in, just get a reversing camera and all the necessary connections are in the boot ready to connect?
Or am I being a bit optimistic here?

Or you could do what I did and fit a dash cam in the rear, the angle would be better too.

I have since modified the use also with added cameras in the horse box while on the move, inside to see how they travel and at the back of the trailer. If it dont work.......burn it!

If the IId tool cant fix it.......burn the FF.

If the FF cant be fixed......buy a Land Cruiser!

If the LC cant be fixed..............................................BUY a horse !!

Bud it's not rocket science, I managed to do it!!

There are a number of places that you can fit a camera.. I went for a BMW X5 camera that replaces the number plate lamp... but having seen how the camera is positioned and type used in this post, I think I'd use this method... for a kick off the cameras are half the price!!

The only really tricky bit is adding the 3 connections to the 2 plugs on the TV tuner... the rest is wiring up a relay! I used a solder type... a, because I'm a tight git and hate spending unnecessary dosh, and b, a solder joint is better than a crimp... but go with which ever you are most comfortable with!

I can help with descriptions and possible diagrams on 'how to' anything you are not sure about, But the only thing that I might find difficult is pictures, as I no longer have an L322... But I do have limited access to a pals that I did! Yesterday I couldn't spell Engineer... Today I are one!
