Is the SDV8 basically the identical engine as the older TDV8 ?

...or more to the point, if it is basically the same, does it have the same oil leak fault into the 2nd turbo that requires the drain mod? ......and if so , why on earth didn't they fix it?!!??!?

Sorry I can’t be precise, but if it helps you any, the MD technician who did the mod on mine told me that “early” L405’s suffer from the same problem, which sort of suggests that later models are modified in production.

Anyone got the VIN range of the 405's that were still affected?

If, and it is a big if, I was buying an L405 of any vintage, I wouldn’t sign anything or hand over a penny, until the dealer either modified it, or was able to demonstrate to my 100% satisfaction that it was already done.
You, more than most, are well aware of the DPF problems that can be had with unmodified 4.4 tdv8’s.

Yes the same old fault on both 322’s & 405’s!!! A friend has just had the mod done to his “63” 405... Pretty poor JLR...
