I was Gone but now I'm back again.

I decided to have a change away from the brand and sold my Loire Blue Vogue SE two weeks ago. Sold much more easily than I thought on the Autotrader.

Eight days ago I had an SQ7 delivered to my home. The Audi Dealership rang me after the car had left but before it arrived to say that there had been an error and that the car was being delivered to me with just one original key and whilst the second key had been located it had to be collected from a sister dealership in the network and couriered to me next day.

In the event, due to a huge hold up (apparently) on the M25 the car arrived with me at 8pm; six hours later than expected.
As it was pitch black outside it was locked and untouched. I did not even sit in it and switch the engine on.

Shortly after midnight the thieves arrived and it was stolen using the second spare key. After a nightmare with Audi but particularly so with Audi UK and after six days the car was recovered in the process of being stripped.

A representative of the C.E.O. Audi Uk's Executive Customer Service Team told me 1. We will not escalate your complaint. 2. You may not talk to any other member of the Customer Relation Team, including her line manager 3. We will be doing nothing to assist you. When I asked why? the only answer she repeated was "We can offer no assistance due to the matter being subject of an ongoing criminal investigation".

And the upshot of all of that is that is that an hour ago I bought myself a 2016 V8 Autobiography. It'll feel like home when it arrives!! 2016 SDV8 Autobiography

Thanks. Yes they have, they have told me that it's been stolen by an employee and that only five senior managers have access to the 'S" series car keys. 2016 SDV8 Autobiography

Sorry to hear your tale, however, look on the bright side. If you would have kept the Audi you would have to learn to drive 2ft of the vehicle in front and have a personality bypass.

I wonder how many other cars from the dealership in question are delivered with the second key missing?
& then are subject to an immediate theft 2009 Stornoway Grey Vogue TDV8

I hadn’t thought of that Laughing but I do think I have had a lucky escape. Sometimes you don’t realise what you have until it’s too late but fortunately the Audi Dealer has been made aware that they have a vicarious liability for their staff, even the crooked ones and I don’t suppose it helped that their data systems were so lacking in even the most basic security that it meant the cleaner or the porter could find out where I live without being tracked whilst doing it.

The dealer did however back-track on their original promise, which was to put me back in a car that was no older, no more miles and at least the same sort of options as the one stolen IF and only IF the second original key was used in the theft. Problem was it would have cost them more than they were willing to pay. 2016 SDV8 Autobiography

It’s a funny thing but after it was stolen I did some research and found a BMW dealer in very close proximity to this Audi Franchise that did exactly the same and got away with it on six cars until he was caught. Every time they stole the car the same day as it was purchased to make sure the key codes weren’t changed. He got 5yrs and 3 months imprisonment in August this year, so I guess it gave someone an idea. 2016 SDV8 Autobiography

So sorry to hear, sounds like a very organised gang. Yet another manufacturer who does not know how to look after their customers.

I have not tried but understand the SQ7, 0 to 60 is phenomenal, did you have test drive in one before ordering?

Ps welcome back👍

Wow what a story - and sounds like more staff in on it than just one delivery driver.

. Cheers, Greg

As a current Audi driver as well I’m relatively impressed with Audi UK’s customer service. Their build quality is also second to none. The key story is interesting; on their MMI there is a screen which shows the number of authorised keys. In theory, if that key had been lost, that number should have read ‘1’ and that should have been the first step the retailer took before delivering the car.
