Which oil type 4.4 TDV8 ?

Hi team, especially from the 4.4 TDV8 club - what engine oil are you using?

Owners book says Castrol SLX Powerflow C1 5w-30 is recommended

Should I stick to this?

Also says something about WSS-M2C934-B whatever that is (I know, I should google it)

Any views would be smashing.

Thanks,
Greg Cheers, Greg

interesting - just googled the Castrol SLX Powerflow C1 5w-30 and nothing really coming up.
Maybe it's been superseded?
. Cheers, Greg

If you put the car details in the Opie oils website it offers various suitable oils.

I bought the Shell Helix Ultra Profesional AF L 5W- 30. It is the “L” you have to make sure you get.

NB. Don’t forget to use the code “ FULLCHAT “ to get the forum discount and free postage.

AF-L helix meets the specs

Needs the ford WSS M2C934-B spec oils and they are quite rare. Helix is one of the easier ones to get hold of. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Castrol powerflow has indeed now been superseded

Difficult to get hold of whatever they call it these days. Shell variant easy to get hold of in comparison.

I have just had an email from Opie.
They are doing 15% off everything using the code “BLACK15” until midnight tonight (Sunday).

Cheers

Thanks chaps - and Mike for the BLACK15 discount code.

Ordered a small Helix AF-L, only need a top up; the car's telling me it needs 0.5litres.
(Does anyone remember Knight Rider? Smile )

I'm either burning a bit (would be maybe 4000m since oil change) - is half a litre kinda normal?

Either that or I've an oil leak Big Cry

Greg,
I have never needed to top mine up in between annual services c5,000 miles.

Did that display come up as a warning?, or when you checked oil level ?

Mike, I check it once a month. It's teetering on the half-mark, and the below-half-and-top-up mark.

. Cheers, Greg

1/2 L may be too much, half of that and recheck. engine at operating temp and wait 20-30 sec. for the reading to stabilize. Thumbs Up
