What year was CVD suspension introduced?

And is it more comfortable on bad roads than the previous gen? 2004 L322 V8

Australia 2012 Range Rover Autobiography TDV8 Bournville

In Oz they were optional for MY10 and standard MY11/12.

I went from a MY10 D4 to my MY12 L322 for the CVDs in the hope that the ride would be gentler on my wife's crook back, which it is by a significant degree on secondary roads. I currently have them calibrated quite soft, indeed too soft so will recalibrate them firmer shortly. However I have fitted oversize tyres to increase sidewall height as the original 20" were harsh. I discovered that switching off DSC sets the shocks firmer which I find useful in harsh off-road conditions where there's not currently enough damping but combined with 30mm extra suspension travel using the suspension kit that I produce.

The shocks are very expensive to replace. I was about to replace mine after only 60K kms of albeit rather taxing roads but found the recalibrate option on my IIDTool so was able to restore decent damping. Shocks on my vehicles normally only last 60-65K kms so being able to get more life by recalibrating is welcomed.

My 1st recalibration was done whilst not moving so the cvds were set uselessly soft. The next was done whilst driving over very rough off-road conditions causing them to be set too firm . The current calibration was done on very slightly rough secondary sealed road and the next one will be done at 80-100 kph on my not so smooth gravel lane. Recalibration is done for a 10 second (or thereabouts) period.
