Rear shocks

Hi guys.
I’m after some advice. I need to replace my rear shocks as they are leaking quite bad.
I don’t quite a lot of towing and was wondering what people think of upgrading to beilsten shocks or if I should just stick with the standard?

Many Thanks

Most rear shocks show signs of leakage as mentioned above... BUT, you have a 2010? If so, they have electronic shocks that cost a HUGE amount and rew only available from JLR (as far as I’m aware) so...... Maybe need to do a little more research sir Thumbs Up

Someone else did say to me that it is usual for the rear shocks to weep but I wasn’t quite convinced. I have looked into the parts and they are only available from JLR at £333 each although you can by direct from Beilstein for similar money. As you can imagine I’d rather not spend that sort of money if it’s not necessary.

Are you sure you are looking at the correct year and part?

I only ask because I know the cost to replace both by a main dealer is about £1700 and I could be wrong but the 2010-12 units are different to the >2009 units.....have a look at Craig's post above yours.

I don;t know where you are in Essex but worth having a word with the guys at the Red Lion Service Centre in Orsett or Landmark in Southend. Both are independent LR specialists I am happy to give my car to.

Yeah it was Landmarque that gave me the price. They are the guys I normally use.

I remember being surprised at the price when the rears went on my 2011 SC. For a car that had only seen tarmac all it's life I was a little disappointed the originals only lasted 60k - 6yrs.

I had Bilstein fitted which cost £265 +VAT. making the total bill over £700 Shocked 2016MY TDV6 Autobiography
