Tailgate only opens half way.

My tailgate has now decided it only wants to open halfway up, previously it's been faultless. The bottom section opens fine. I checked on here but can't see much info so has anyone else had this issue and know the fix or am I heading for the dealer?

Any help appreciated.

Mine did that, and still does occasionally. The first time the dealer sorted it out. Now it seems to reset itself after closing again. Maybe they updated the software.

Hi does it always stop at the same point ? Is it possible you have programmed it to do so accidentlally by restricting it opening one time? Try pressing the button again when it stops until it is fully open then keep your finger on the button to store the new opennng height. Worth a try. I have had a couple of issues with mine but always the bottom section never the top. 2013 L405 AB 4.4SDV8 Luxor/Ivory, 2007 Vogue TDV8 Epson Green/Sand, 2008 Vogue TDV8 Buckingham Blue/Sand, 2003 Vogue 4.4 LPG Epsom Green/Sage, 1998 Vogue SE 4.6 LPG Epsom Green/Cream

I would try manually opening to full height as highlighted below

From the manual
TAILGATE OPENING HEIGHT

The maximum opening height for the tailgate can be set as required. Setting a maximum height is useful in parking areas with very low roofs, or just for ease of use.

To set the maximum opening height as required:

Open the tailgate to the position required as the maximum height. Press any opening or closing button to stop movement at the required position. The final position can be achieved manually, if required.

Make sure the tailgate is stationary for at least 3 seconds.

Press and hold the close button for 10 seconds to set the required opening height.

Press a close button to close the tailgate. Open again to check that it opens to the required height.

The maximum opening height is now set.
NOTES

If, after performing step 3, the tailgate closes automatically, the required height has not been set. Repeat the process, making sure that all steps are adhered to.

To reset the maximum opening height, repeat the process, but fully open the tailgate before pressing and holding the button.

The powered tailgate may lose its position memory if there are multiple object detections, or if the battery voltage is low. Powered operation may be inhibited.

To reset the tailgate's opening height:

Manually close the tailgate.

Press a release button.

Allow the tailgate to power fully open, or to the previously set position.

Press and release the close button.

Allow the tailgate to power-close fully.

The position memory is now restored.

Hope that helps
