Santa sent me a dashcam...........

Its a Mini 0906 dual camera version. Looks pretty good and it came with a decent hardwire kit.

Am gonna try and fit it over the next weekend (if it stops raining/snowing) but one question for now relates to the battery protection system on the hardwire kit.

It has a setting which will cut the power to the dashcam when the battery drops below a pre-set level. For a 12v system I can set it at 11.8v, 12.0v, 12.2v or 12.4v.

So which one do I use? I'm tempted with 12.4v to start with.

I wouldn't go any lower than 12.2

Thanks. That's why I am thinking about setting at 12.4v and just seeing what happens.

The cam has parking guard mode which lowers the frame rate when ignition off so hopefully won't cause any battery issues. 2017 4.4 SDV8 Autobiography

My battery seems to be at 12v or thereabouts
Has been for years
If I set 12.4v, it would only ever record when the engine was running

OK, so cam all fitted, although front one will need a bit of re-positioning as it just picks up the corner of the rearview mirror/rain sensor housing.

Surprisingly easy to conceal the cabling around the headlining/pillar trims and on the upper tailgate I removed the plastic panel that covers the wiper motor and managed to hide away all the excess cable and connector etc for the rear camera.

I'm now trying to hardwire the power supply but am really confused looking at the front glove box fuses. Any thoughts on which one i can use as a permanent supply and which one for an ignition switched supply (the cam needs both for parking guard mode to work properly).

I also note that F4 has connectors but no fuse or description on the panel diagram.

Which fuses have you clever people used for your dashcams?

I was going to ask that question as as well there are a number of fuse locations not in use but are live.
Any help would be great Thumbs Up

My Nextbase came with a piggyback fused connection.

I only wanted it live with the ignition so I used F20 (heated steering wheel).

F48 should be permanent live, it's the battery feed for the trailer socket.

Dunc. The life you have is the only one you'll get; make the most of it.
