Starting to get feelings about selling my FF

Its a great car but i normally only keep my cars for 3-6 months and i am starting to get the itch.
Question is should i stay or go ? i am tempted by a ML63 or BMW X5M twin turbo.

If I were to replace mine with another 4x4 it would be the X5M or the X5 50d

I’m with Stan on this, I would only consider another, newer FFRR.
In saying that, changing a car every 3-6 months seems utter madness to me. How can you possibly get to know a car, let alone get bored with it in such a short timespan?
I thought I was bad, changing every 2 years. Then I got my latest FFRR and nearly 6 years later, I struggle to consider paying lots of money for what would be a minimal result (or improvement)
I guess you pays your money and takes your choice and all that Thumbs Up Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

depends what you have in it , if you bought it cheap and if you can get out of it with little or no depreciation

I've only had a FF for a month, 2003 HSE TD6, bought it very cheap with the engine down on a cylinder , 2 owners from new, loads of history, gearbox changed in 2013 , suspension changed last year inc new compressor , now is has a 90,000 mile engine out of a 330D that I saw running in the car before buying it.

when I look at what i'd need to add to it to get something newer, 8-10k for something 5 years newer that could be teetering on the edge of a big bill I've thought no , i'll keep it so I've spent some money on it, android head unit to update the dash, it needs a bit of love on the interior, don't like the light wood trim so I'm looking for something to update it, carbon wrap maybe.

If you want a performance car buy one, M5 C63 XJR, but a performance SUV, I don't really see the point

I have a 2002 Maserati 4200 , a 2006 MX5 BBR200 and a 2003 FF range rover , I have under 20k in all of them

Similar money buys a 6-7 year old L322

I know where i'd sooner be

I traded one of my Fullfats for an X5 40d.......kept it for 2 months then traded in for a 4.4 TDV8.......now had her for 2 years.......says it all really!

I could not get over how harsh the ride was and I knew that at some point i'd be sitting at the lights when an FF pulled up alongside and reminded me of my mistake in scratching the X5 itch.

The 2 that tempt you are quite different - both a much firmer ride.

The Merc sounds awesome, but you’re going to visit a lot of filling stations.....

If your fed up with a FF after just 6 months then you should change it as I think you are not a “Range Rover “ type of guy . Obviously it’s a good thing that we are not all the same .👍

I would add that not appreciating the greatness of a full fat doesn’t make you a bad person .........😀

I don’t think it’s specific to any specific marque.

Might be cheaper to hire them for 3 months and move on to something new.

I can only imagine the horrific depreciation with some exotic metal Rolling Eyes Got - 2017 SDV8 Autobiography in Loire Blue

I had a diesel ML with brabus tuning before my SC FF,test drove a X5 4.8 before I found my FF and I can tell you they compare in absolutely no way at all.

The ML was quick,Very quick for a diesel and would do 35mpg on a run, apart from a turbo that went two weeks into ownership (supplying dealer sorted it),it was a reliable car that I ran for two years, only changed as I got bored of it but wouldn't hesitate for another.

The X5 was too harsh a ride,it sat on 20's wearing run flats,I kid you not it nearly knocked my fillings out it was that bad.
It was ok-ish it terms of build quality, neither of them anything like a full fat,the X5 being the nicer of the two inside.

Just my pennies worth Thumbs Up

how is an X5 or an ML even in the same category as an FF ? not like they will do the same things as an FF and I agree with whoever said , if you want a fast car , buy a fast car not and SUV with a fast engine ! its all personal choice but I for one leave the fast driving to my other cars and use the FF for towing , going offroad and doing so in comfort Thumbs Up

I rather agree with bembo449 in that a fast SUV is a bit pointless, in the UK at least. However, if that's what you want, have a look at the Porsche Cayenne - they do 4.2 V8 diesel that is awesome, with much better ride quality than an X5, especially if you get air suspension.

Thanks for all your replys guys , a bit more info for you .
Mine is a 4.4 tdv8 l322 vse , so basically has all the same running gear and engine as a brand new full fat.
I just dont seem to have gotten on with the car , from day one its had problems . It leaked oil within the first week of owning it . The common oil cooler seal, then as a result of that over the next few week other seals leaked. Got them all sorted and then the fuel gauge went faulty , another 'common' problem the wiring on the tank. Then it needed a new battery.
At the minute me and the wife share a car so it is the daily driver and we have 2 dogs so it needs to be an estate and we have a caravan too. So needed something to pull that. Hence the Full fat.

I just seem to drive it waiting for the next issue, i have owned lots of other cars (over 100) so its not like i have not experienced other makers , i just dont know whether i have been unlucky.
