England 2005 Range Rover Vogue Td6 Zambezi Silver

I recently went to the British Car Auctions at their Bedford site and was surprised by the number of 3 year old L405’s and L494’s going through.

Always worth a look?

Jim

What sort of prices were the L405s going for? What do I put here then?

From memory (I was more interested in a Polo for my daughter) a Santorini Black with service history, 50k miles went for £41,000, which I thought was a good price?

There were 3 or 4 but I was being steered towards the smaller cars in the next hall.

Having just sold a 2012, the dealer prices were 5-7k more than mine with an odd exception.

If it’s sensible miles and you can talk to the seller don’t knock the private seller... I think there are good opportunities

Buyer quizzed me and papers examined and hope I passed in a car in really good shape... I’m sure there will be others. Be it private or an auction, the 5k diffference will pay for any warranty.. there was what I thought a good on line warrenty for £5-£600 ??? for under 80,000 miles 6 year old car. The warrenty will cover more for younger/ less mileage.

Good luck searching... Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

He who dies with the most toys wins...

Does sound like a good price. Thank you. What do I put here then?

Doesn't seem that cheap to me considering the risk - I would far rather pay a bit more and have the comfort of buying from a dealer and the back up that goes with it. A goosed engine and you are looking at £12 to £15k minimum. Buying in an auction for a vehicle of £40k without having any fall back position is bonkers - ok if you are a dealer and can fix at cost 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Personally I think LR approved for the warranty is a good shout.

If 66k on the clock and a remaining 1 years LR Warranty is of interest then PM me as I might sell my car if I can get my new shape quick enough, been on the list a while and have pushed it back but might get March/April delivery or a Velar as a stop gap.

It's a Black/Cream Vogue SE and I'm the 2nd owner and it came from LR dealer a year ago and just serviced by LR last week, and sailed through MOT clean as a whistle.

cheers Paul all smug in my new plug!

That is, of course, a very good point. What do I put here then?

I checked and in USA all new range rovers are warrantied for 4 years or 50k miles which ever comes 1st. Certified Pre Owned puts an additional 2 year warranty on the car.

Which differs from the UK market, where it’s covered by a 3 year / unlimited mileage warranty on all new cars.

If Rangerover owners ( or owners of a top marque like RR) are any thing to go by ,both sets of cars would be in pretty good nick with full service histories .

Up to 3 years old , main dealer , over 3 but under 5 , approved used with warranty, 5-8 years old , dealer with consumer rights, older than 10 years I'd buy solely on condition and how much money it's had spent on it wherever it was being sold

If I was spending big money I'd also have it on finance because that £1000 you might pay in interest could end up being a bargain if something big goes bang and the dealer is an arse

I'd sooner buy a 12 year old car that's had all the big jobs done than an 8-9 year old one that'll be more money but waiting to pop.
