Discs will have a minimum thickness, get them measured , I had something similar on a van, under warranty , red stop you're going to die brake warning light came on so I took it to the dealer i'd bought it from

back brakes mate, needs discs and pads , really, how much, £700+ vat we can do it this afternoon , I bet you can

Took it to my mechanic, discs were fine well within the limit, he took the lip off with a grinder, changed the pads and charged me £90, 12 months later they needed changing and new pads, he did it for £350

My guess is most of these types of cars are company cars of some sort so they speak to somebody 200 miles away in an office block who's not there to look who just authorises the work

Thanks for the advice.

Am sure the brakes aren't as bad as the stealer's suggesting.

But I could, of course, be wrong. What do I put here then?

Hi GAC23

I know you mentioned you weren’t too handy with the tools but the job isn’t really too difficult.

There is an awesome write up in the wiki to help a DIYer. Also a couple of clips on Ye olde YouTube.

I’ve just done my front pads and rotors with my 15 year old son. I did one side he did the other. (Bit of man skill training 😁)

Apart from it being minging hot down here, it wasn’t too tricky.

Maybe consider doing the job yourself?

On another note, if you’d prefer main dealer expertise then you could supply the parts and negotiate a price to fit them.

I’ve done this before. 2007 3.6 TDV8
