First thing to check are the 4 short rubber hose .
Remove the plastic engine cover (just pulls up )

Then look for any splits in the short hoses.

have been told requires new turbo.

It's highly likely to be the hoses as Baltic Blue says if so, a massive watch out to whoever told you this....

And welcome btw! Loads of help here. Post some pics of your car too. Thumbs Up
. Cheers, Greg

Hi all. Complete story so far on restricted performance RR 2011 4.4ltr.
2017 Restricted performance. Found split in joint inlet manifold L/H. Local dealership replaced L/H inlet manifold and also four inlet hoses with upgraded hoses modification. All seals as required replaced. Vehicle runs ok. After 3 months use approx ( only used to tow caravan) 1000mls approx use. Restricted performance whilst towing caravan. Recovery attended vehicle . Diagnostic showed fault on vacuum valve lower front L/H side. Cancelled code vehicle run ok no further problem. Fault restricted performance started again after a further 2500mls. Returned vehicle to dealership cleared fault codes. Unable to find a problem. Each time restricted performance fault appears , after switching off engine wait 10min fault disappears and engine runs ok. Took vehicle to independant L/R specialist, found sticking R/H turbo actuator also carried out smoke test. Advise possible turbo fault. req replacement. I still believe fault lies with vaccumm valve operation. Fault only appears if you drive at a constant speed for a duration of time then increase speed slightly to overtake a vehicle . RESTRICTED PERFORMANCE. Does anyone know what is the flow of air from from both air filters to both turbo's. What valves and monitering equipment and how they operate.
Best rgds John

If it were me, I’d take it to another independent specialist for an opinion.
Have you checked the hoses as per Baltic Blues post above? 2011 4.4 TDV8 Vogue SE Buckingham Blue with Ivory and clear glass = "Rory"

Checked all previous recommendations ie hoses etc. As commented previously all were replaced. Checked MAP sensor and found to be very badly contaminated and blocked. Will replace sensor unit and clean inside {dougnut} air intake, when I obtain parts.
Has anyone replaced the starter motor on this engine before and if so what is the procedure for removing the said item looks rather tight up there. rgds John

Car runs fine until extra speed required then goes into restricted performance. Engine can be reved up and down whilst vehicle is statioinary without any fault.
The sounds as though the secondary inlet isolation valve is sticking. An improved version of the valve was fitted from early in 2012.

The valve gives an error code when it fails, but sorry I don’t know it.
Good news is it’s an easy replacement job. (They quote 1.8 hours)
Mine was swapped under warranty.
