Bad paint chip repair, repair tips ?

Hi team,

Got a few of these on my Stornaway finish unfortunately. Just for the record, was done by previous owner, dealer or owners son hoping nobody would notice.

Have lived with them since I bought mine 14 months ago. But 956 car detailing vids later I've decided they have to go.

Despite all those vids, I'm reluctant to flatten off and disturb surrounding clear coat.

Other than masking quite close, any tips most welcome!

Cheers, Greg

....just a thought, would a super sharp razor blade work to get rid of the unnecessary mound of touch up paint? Lubed of course.

Is that crazy?

Should I fill in the pit then level off with fine papers and polish?

. Cheers, Greg

Go at it like a madman with some 2000 wet and dry. Thumbs Up don’t do it with a razor!!

What i do is pop a dab of touch up in the chip, and keep adding until it’s slightly proud of the rest of the paint work, let it dry fully then take a small bit of 2000 grit, wet it and gently sand the area and a small bit round the chip, once you have it quite smooth switch to G3 and a polishing cloth to remove the very fine scratches left by the wet and dry.

Haylands (Pete) did his whole car, a while back and it’s on a thread somewhere. But if you are nervous prove it to yourself on a door shut first..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
