Be very careful of anyone saying they have re-mapped one of these yet as from my understanding the only way to do it is by takeing the ECU out and splitting it - then mapping it and not by the OBD method that was common on the TDV8/TDV6 and other derivatives.

This obviously leaves a tell tale to LR as if they look at the ECU they will know someone has been tampering with it Whistle

Also means it cant be switched back in a hurry if you need some work doing by LR under warranty etc. "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.
"TORQUE" -----------is how far you take the fence with you.

Who is it that claims it can only be done by splitting down the ECU to get past the encryption chip ?

Why do you ask that? Have you seen it/had it done via a different method as I would very much like to know who and how? "UNDERSTEER" ----is when you hit the fence with the front of the car.
"OVERSTEER" ------is when you hit the fence with the rear of the car.
"HORSEPOWER" ----is how fast you hit the fence.

Passing the several levels of security and flashing the car by OBD is not the main problem and can be done without to much trouble. However this is not publicly used yet bacause....

The main problem with OBD flashing is the file thats flashed and its needed check sum and seed keys can not yet be corrected after modification by the tuner, this is because no tuning software company has yet let out publicly the check sum algoritham thats needed.

The VBF calibration files that are used in final production and on the landrover SSD system are check sum corrected by Bosch and passed back to landrover for use in the software updates we all know which is why these are OBD flashable files.

Programming the ecu on the bench lets tuning tools at the moment bypass the needed OBD check sum and therefore tuning is possibile in Boot Strap Mode only for now.

Thanks Pete, think that answeres the question I was having difficulty with as I kinda knew why but not all the correct wording etc.

If anyone has seen or had one re-mapped whilst on the vehicle I really would like to know.
