4.4 TDV8 Remap?

Looking to remap my new car, I mapped my 3.6 with great results.. looking around I can see many tuning box products promising same sorts of figures than a map.. which I take with a pinch of salt.. and I read that a map is better than a tuning box too..

Any thoughts? 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

You should drive it around for a couple of weeks.
You could be pleasantly surprised and save yourself a bob or two. G reg 2.5VM Vogue Portofino red 1991- 1999

Oh I will, but I like to exploit the potential.. I always map my cars - the ones that would benefit. My 3.6 was mapped and it drove very well, I'm just not sure I will see the benefit of having the 4.4 if it has a stock tune after having a well mapped 3.6..
I am assuming the drive of a mapped 3.6 to be very similar to a stock 4.4? 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

My 3.6 ' felt ' quicker than my 4.4 does. Whether this was just a feeling or not , im not sure but i drove them back to back and 3.6s throttle response was much better. I'm having my 4.4 mapped soon , just haven't had time so far and will report back. 2015 4.4 AB

Was looking into this myself a few weeks back. The best seem to be

jE in the midlands
DMS who will go mobile

And I think BAS (Pete bell) will also do a 4.4 map, but best email him. Usually his are done over a module he posts out, you then upload your current map to him and he sends a modified version which you upload to the car. The advantage of Pete’s system is you can put the old map back on using the device at any time (basically an iid tool)

DMS reckoned they could get up near 400hp from the 4.4.... which is tempting. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

@dolph34 Best budget for a new gearbox then as mapping the 4.4 takes it over the rated torque load for the gearbox - loads of info on here if you do a search. 2021 L405 Vogue SE 4.4 V8 DIESEL ~ #17

Just had a chat with BAS, they won't tune the 4.4.. he told me that 700nm is plenty and not many folk map them. 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

The maximum gearbox input torque is already lower than the torque the standard engine produces...

The top end can be improved on, as torque drops off higher in the Rev Range, but it’s not the huge improvement you would normally see with a remap...

i have driven a 4.4 TDV8 remapped with 8000 miles on the map with 950NM Torque and 395HP and it has had no issues at all ........

Some folk have mapped the 4.4 and there are tuners quoting figures around +70bhp and 840nm etc.. I understand it must be a risk otherwise no one would be saying it. I'll see how the car goes in stock form first. 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

When you see 'no issues at all...', shouldn't that be 'no issues at all...yet!'

If your tuning for speed , then i agree with buying a faster car but it's more about driveability especially throttle control which in my humble opinion the 4.4 lacks 2015 4.4 AB

“Drive ability “,
It must be an age thing, mine pulls like a train from any speed and scares the pants off me sometimes, so much so that I always finish up lifting my foot off 🤔🤔.
As for top speed, god knows, I have never been anywhere near.
