First RR - 4.2 SC

Hi Folks,

Thought I’d post a pic of my first RR, having been a German fanboy (and still am) for most of my car ownership years.

It’s a 2007 4.2 SC Vogue SE with 79k on the clock, last owner had it 10 years so it came with both keys and a stack of history.

It needs a few things sorting, which I am sure I’ll get round to once the UK lock down eases.

- Rust on upper tailgate lip (mostly bubbled on left side)
- Rust type discolouration around lower tailgate struts
- Rust type discolouration on near side rear arch
- Bluetooth keeps asking for PIN every time I turn it off and back on again
- Check coolant level warning appears and disappears, no overheating so hoping it’s a sensor  - 2007 4.2 SC

Nice, enjoy....

Check the coolant level, if it's a bit low you get those symptoms... Pete

For the coolant warning it can be a couple of things. The level could just be low, in which Case you'd top off with 50/50.The concentration may be low. The float in the tank actually tests the concentration. Top that off with 100%, or even better, do a compete flush and refill with 50/50. The Sensor could be bad. It's a few bucks and 5 min to replace. Or the float in the tank could be bad, which requires replacing the whole expansion tank which also comes with a new sensor. If you're going to do that, might as well do a full flush, IMO. Just beware, the SCs can be a bear to refill because they have a tendency to airlock and the bleed valves are of very limited use. You may need an air compressor to force the coolant through the system and the air out. 2009 L322 SC

Thanks for the tips folks.

Checked fluid levels and it’s all good. It’s got some red coloured fluid in there. Not sure if concentration is right so will check that next.  - 2007 4.2 SC
