If keys are lost

With what I’m told is the new key system for my17 , if I’m away say in France, and loose the key- is there anyway of getting the car started to get me home to the uk where we keep the spare key- or am I stuffed ?

Bill Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

My wife carries a spare when we go away - as I cant be trusted Rolling Eyes

I guess the car could be recovered to a French dealer who may be able to pair a new fob ?

I was told by the dealers, they can no longer get copy keys for my car 2017, something to do with security issue, ie when someone stands out side the house and copies... now totally impossible for both you/me and mr thieving bar steward .

They were short of a key on delivery and had to replace the entire unit last year.

Unless anyone knows differently

Ps I’m not sure I trust the wife with her bottomless handbag. Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

I guess you would have 3 choices then
1) someone makes a return flight to fetch the key
2) car gets recovered to UK and you all find another way home
3) French dealership replaces the entire unit

May be worth checking there isn’t a lost key clause in your breakdown insurance (assuming you have it)

So there’s really no way to get an additional key ? Shocked

Seems a bit of an overreaction on the part of JLR - I have 3 keys for mine - so if I wanted that I’d need to get a new module and 3 keys then they burn the mould so I can never get another ?

I can understand take your V5 and passport to a main dealer who need to order one in etc......

Apparently not Alister

Seems to me that it shouldn’t be beyond the wit of man to have an ‘authorised ‘ copy.

That said , I’m going to ask a different main dealer.

Bill, any JLR dealer can code keys to your car sir... They simply have to plug your car in and let LR factory view your data then they respond with a code for your module to accept a key coding...

Stops those thieving bastards coding a key on your driveway...

Thats as long as your car has had the upgrade/update to its security ECU... Whistle Rolling Eyes
