I didn’t know what an EGR was...

Reading the above, conclusion: seems to me to be a sensible bit of kit. On the cost front , the claim is it helps mpg, how much it doesn’t say.

I’m delighted to wave two fingers at the tree huggers, as my euro 6 RRFF emissions are within a spit of petrol..and way ahead of many older cars that are still chugging along Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. Emissions Analytics worked with........etc etc

Bill, when an EGR valve is shiny and new they aren't a huge problem, but after a while they look like this.

Then they are a big problem as they can break up and go through the turbos and engine destroying both.
Incidentally the turbo hoses and inlet manifold can all look the same inside which is clearly a problem.
IMHO, if you keep the system it needs stripping and cleaning as part of a service schedule. 2007 Vogue TDV8 in Zermatt Silver with Charcoal

Not pretty grofus , I assume it takes some time to start to become a problem?

Seems /hope I would know about it with red lights and bumpy engines and the computer will chuck out a message to the garage...diagnostic services to the rest of u.

You need to remember I know how to put diesel in, press the start button and occasionally fill the screen wash__ the rest is beyond my pay grade, but is simply good to know about- Filters are in fact so good that in certain circumstances, when the ambient air is already polluted, a diesel car will tend to extract more particles from the air than it emits. I have not had EGR waste through my own TDV6 engine (with 2 valves Thumbs Up ) for nearly 5 years and pushing 90k miles now

Still runs sweet as a nut Thumbs Up

This was the last EGR blanking I did for a customer. Disco 3, 2008, 119k miles
