Any Range Rover will depreciate. Doesn't matter miles or how old or new.
That 2012 VSE cost nearly 80K new. You're dodging £64ks worth of depreciation.

100k miles is a psychological barrier for buyers and you're well past that. If you buy one on 80k miles and sell it under a 100k miles it will help keep the buyer base wider. But I'm not sure it will affect the price. Miles are miles and that one is well over 100k anyway.

Diesels across the board are dropping in price - and the whole car market is slowing and prices are dropping right now. A year ago, mine with 107k and similar spec (although a 2011) was £20k. At the time, a 75kish miles was £22-23K in similar spec.

This year, they're cheaper. A lot cheaper. But I don't want to think about how much I've lost in a year. Same would go for any owner here, whatever the price bracket. That 's not why we do it. A Range Rover is a heart purchase and not a head purchase and depreciation comes hand in hand with the sheer pleasure ownership gives.

I'd set a budget, parameters like colour and interior colour and a list of toys you must have. Then get the best spec/lowest miles you can. I've seen a few advertised under 50k miles. so set your parameters and shop hard.

That 2012 on eBay you posted ^ could be haggled, no?

I'm going to try and haggle when I see it again at the weekend.
It's certainly in very good condition.

The big benefit of buying used luxury vehicles like a FFRR is avoiding most of the depreciation to the extent the price really underestimated the remaining economic life of the vehicle. My FFRR had depreciated 80% after 7 years at which point I bought it.

I’m expecting to lose about 40% off the price I paid over a period of 5 years. But the $ value of that 40% is minimal each year. ______________________________

At that price, it's a bargain and if you like it and can agree a price you're happy with, just buy it.

We'd all be very depressed if we always thought about depreciation, in the same way that I don't fixate about fuel economy anymore.......it's a 4.4 V8 ffs and 27mpg is just dandy.

My current weapon of choice is an E63 Biturbo and I'm currently in a situation where I need to free up some cash but I also want to have something which is more economical.
Nice car though.

A 4.4 isn't more economical than an E63. Both average 28.

The 5.0 s/c is a little worse, admittedly - mines averaging just under 20.

Well, they're book figures. Trundling around town with a cold engine and in traffic is obviously going to be worse.

If you're just going to potter around town in a diesel you'll spend a shed load more on repairs than fuel.

Don't tell me, the dreaded DPF? Or perhaps a clogged EGR valve?
