Battery monitoring system

Hi, are there any technical details about what this does, or how it works ?

I have read the posts in the wiki and searched for info, but not found much.
I am wondering if the module might selectively enable / power certain modules or something.
I assume it might not allow the car to start if the voltage is too low too.

I read somewhere that changing from a wet battery to a dry one is not a good idea, and needs to be reprogrammed else it might have the wrong charge voltage applied.
The seller of my car told me he had fitted a new battery, but I don't know if he replaced like with like.

If you change or reconnect the battery do you simply reset the module, or do you have to reset voltages or something, which is sort of implied it might be different depending on battery type.

Cheers,
John. Too many toys, not enough time
