Hi all,

I've had my fatty for 8 weeks now, and i think its brilliant.

I like the power, the quality, the driving position, the noise it makes, the tailgate... basically everything!

But, the 'x' factor for me is when i get in it for a 100 mile+ journey i just feel like 'were ready!' any weather, any distance, any conditions, i feel it can cope with anything!

I'm curious as to what everyone else sees as the 'x' factor for there fatty, as cars have such a different meaning to different people

I agree with you entirely. The FF gives a sense of being unstoppable regardless of the conditions yet insulates you from the outside world both literally and figuratively.

Interesting question, although hard to define the X Factor. If pressed, I'd say it's how darned big, and imposing, the car is. You really couldn't mistake it for anything else (RR Sport, perhaps).
Also the fact that it's made in Britain is part of the appeal, for me anyway.

There are a great many things, as we're all agreed.

I don't drive 100+ miles in mine all that often, so can't say it's that for me.

With mine, it's the engine. And that's closely followed by the interior appearance, ambience, smell and comfort. These are the 'X-Factor' elements that I enjoy on every journey irrespective of time, distance or weather. Si. <This is my name.

I’ll go out of my way to be courteous and helpful; I’m not going to be straddling parking bays, parking in disabled bays or on pavements any time soon!

What I do like is getting into the office early to find the MD sending a message out to everyone to take it really easy on the hail and ice on the entry road, to then think I hadn’t even noticed it

It never fails to impress me how much get up and go it has for such a large and heavy motor (S/C).

Oh.. I love climbing up on to the step and climbing aboard. I love the way folk get out your way and I love being above folks at the lights, filling a whole "parent and child" parking bay and driving over kerbs (or anything really) if required. Unlike the vast majority of owners, I use mine "off road" at least 6-8 times a day - (leaving the house is off road, coming back home is off road again, my driveway is 1mile of farm track, mud holes, broken verge, green lane etc... I love how it doenst care about any of that.
I love all the space to sit and eat and play tennis in the back. I love the way it charges through floods and tsunami's anyone within range. I'm sure there are many more things too.. I also love that there is a forum that doesn't seem to have the usual resident big poster dick heads with bad attitudes that's on nearly every other forum. So many x factors, i drive about 1000kms a week, so comfort is very important, the invincibility/ go anywhere feel, the driving over kerbs instead of going in the ' In ' gate or ' exit 'gate ( more times and more places than you would think). The power on the motorway to embarrass lots of surprised looking drivers. the gorgeous interior, the tft display with the 'torchlight' setting on.
The FBH , the smug feeling walking towards it in any carpark knowing its yours, the sound system , the air suspension (priceless in recent floods when everyone had turned back and I serenely sailed ( almost literally) through., the gleam from the paint work when washed and polished , the looks ( i was in front of a 2011 4.4 while driving a truck and was smitten all over again while looking in mirrors ).

Yeah! I don't have the arrogance to use disabled bays (too often anyway ), but parent and child spaces are fair game if you have a RR I think. Normal spaces are just too tight, it's folk hitting my doors that worries me rather than needing a lot of space myself to get in and out, im slim.. 2010 FF 4.4 TDV8 Vogue - Gone

I have had Range Rovers for many years. Find me an alternative that does what an RR does with the same panache. No other manufacturer has ever been able to eclipse the RR, yes they are unreliable, yes they are are a money pit but bloody hell they deliver in spades.

As I always say, much to my wife's chagrin 'out the way oik, f&&kin Range Rover coming through'
