Leaking rear shock absorber!

One of my rear shocks is leaking lots of oil, has anyone managed to find a replacement stand alone shock or is it the full assembley? If it is a full assembley, can anyone suggest a good non LR replacement? 2011 tdv8. I'll be replacing both!

Your car will have the variable damping so your choices of non genuine will probably be limited.

The OE units are made by Bilstein. LR retail them at £423 each. Island 4x4 are half of that price. Smile

I paid around £300 each for mine from Duckworth.

Really simple job to swap. Thumbs Up

Not sure what you mean by full assembly… do you mean the air bag? As they are separate from the strut.

This is a picture of my old pair if rear struts…

Thanks chaps, if you look at the breakdown schematic there is a stand alone shock, with no part number, surrounded by the rest of the gubbins. I guess the shock on its own does not have a part number and therefore not available. Just thought that by now someone would have figured out a replacement! Should be cheap as chips! Laughing

Yes, the rears are as above. Mine were changed at Christmas. Got them from Island too. You will need the paper gaskets from Land Rover for the mount, against the body. Says it’s imperative that they are replaced to stop water ingress to vehicle.
