Why is the press banging on about the new "ORANGE" McClaren F1 car it was basically Orange last year with a bit of Black?

Agreed. We need to see the likes of McLaren up at the front mixing it with the likes of Mercedes, Ferrari and Red Bull.

Did you read Sean Bratches comments about the Halo? When people complained at how ugly they were, he commented that F1 was "not here to please people, but to make F1 exciting".........and this is from "the commercial manager".......I wonder how long it will take before he realises that without the people, there is no F1 !

I wonder if Bernie's busy right now? Bow down

Mike

Until there is parity in funding F1 will remain a sport of three / four teams plus the rest. I have stuck with it for the last 5 years but this year unless something fantastic occurs I suspect will be my last - its actually quite boring!.

I am yet to see any real evidence of at the desire to move to the more family friendly wider appeal thats supposed to be coming - quite the opposite, look at the podium DJ in Mexico last year - cringe!!!

Oh and the grid girls are gone - another fine example of the few PC knobs spoiling it for the many.

I never rated McClaren probably because I thought Ron was a t*at but fingers crossed this year. Lets hope the snow in Barcelona and lack of testing is not a bad omen.

The sport has more problems to solve that the colour of the cars. Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

I want Berny back. That"s only one who understands how to print money and make teams happy and push the F1 sport forward. With the end result that we watch F1 with pleasure.

When Bernie was ousted, I was hoping for great thing's from Liberty, but from what i've seen so far, they are more interested in attracting new audiences under the age of 14 with the attention span of a goldfish, rather than some of us who have been following F1 since the days of Piquet (Nelson not junior) and Villeneuve (Gilles, not Jacques).

Every year, Ferrari threatens to pull out if they don't get the biggest slice of the cake, and every year they continue to line up on the grid.

If Liberty are not careful, they could find themselves competing against a breakaway series, and you can be sure that's exactly what Mr B is hoping for in the background.

The Halo and grid girls are just another example of Liberty's attempts to dumb-down what is supposed to be the pinnacle of motorsport.

Rant over Thumbs Up

That was certainly a good race this afternoon. I’m no Vettel fan but credit where credit’s due he did well to hang on to that lead today. It’s looking like it might be a good season of mixed racing for a change.

Wonder if mclaren are having second thoughts about dumping Honda, and the fact it cost them £100 million to do it as well!

While Gasly did drive a good race his team mate was way down the field. McLaren did a reasonable job given that they missed so much testing with issues marrying up the Renault engine to their package. I’m hoping they pick it up in the remaining part of the season just to make it more interesting..... There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜

Agreed the last 10 laps in particular were very interesting.

Hope the Ferarri mechanic is ok. He was actually standing in front of the tyre which surly needs addressing.

For those that say they want Berni back - lets not forget the sports decline, the teams constantly arguing and the fundamental reasons for the lack of appeal all occurred during his watch!

Yes he developed the sport but he also oversaw the start of the end (unless Liberty change things).

Gasly well deserved driver of the day Thumbs Up 405 AB exec seats Baltic and Cirrus

Agreed re Gasly - commentators where late to pick up on the fact he was doing so well earlier on.

Had it on record and the mechanics leg must be in some state, I reckon it snapped the wrong way.....

Edit.... they say he broke both tib and fib and has a full leg cast. Hopefully it didn’t damage his knee. And ligaments too as bones are easy to glue back together joints less easy to mend. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
