Torx socket sizes?

Hi Team,

I've got some (male) torx drivers for the various (female) torx screws around the car but need to unbolt my seat and realised I need some - I guess you'd call them female torx sockets - for the male torx bolts.

What kind of sizes will I need generally on the car?

There's a set with: TORX SOCKETS:E4,E5,E6,E7,E8

Will this do or are there more/other sizes I need?

Thanks in advance.
Greg Cheers, Greg

I bought a US Pro branded 17 piece impact set covering E5 to E24 for under £25 last year.

Seemed a good bang for buck ratio in and a half decent box too. Savings on smaller or less well packaged sets didn't seem objectively worth it. Getting just the tools I need now never seems to work out for me.

Compared to 40 years back when I first started spannering tools of perfectly acceptable quality are dirt cheap in objective terms today.

When you say Torx bolts, are they 12 pointed bolt heads rather than torx? If so, a normal socket (12 pointed obviously!) will fit.

Not had a look at my seat bolts to check, sorry. Bish.

These are the sockets I think I need (but not sure about sizes)

I'll take a picture of the seat bolt - I thought at a glance it was 6 pointed. Didn't think to try a normal socket...

A 12 sided socket might welll do the trick if you have some to try. Failing that you can get female torx socket sets with most sizes on amazon for a few £'s normally going up to e24. Current 2007 TDV8 Vogue Buckingham Blue

This is the seat bolt.
Are these bolts used elsewhere around the car?

. Cheers, Greg

I ordered a set of torx sockets.

In the meantime I tried a standard socket. Which fits perfectly. Rolling Eyes

10mm for the seat bolts if anyone needs to know.

. Cheers, Greg

yep a standard socket will fit, but you wont be able to put the same torque through the bolt as a E socket.

I have a cheap set of Forged Steel ones from Screfix should I need to undo any in the future, came with some splined head keys as well. There is nothing that can't be fixed with a hammer😜😜
