hi bill

from what i understand, this 2016 i've bought (and years onwards i guess) does have a cat 5 system. the difference in declaring with a sat nav saw the lowest quotes for me drop from £1,300 per annum, to £829 per annum, so a significant difference.

maybe call your insurers and advise them, you may get a rebate for the remaining term, if nor you'll certainly see a reduction in quotes at renewal.

sorry, i meant it's got the standard "in control secure" cat 6, (not cat 5)

Declaring. Snip snip the lowest quotes for me drop from £1,300 per annum, to £829 per annum, so a significant difference.

Amendment noted

That aside, I was quoted a little under £600.00. But in another thread, someone mentioned the NFU as having a good policy and very competitive.
If I declare the tracking, maybe they will discount a bit more and pay me. Rolling with laughter

Was due to pick up my new car today and has now been put back to next Tuesday, but I thought I'd get the insurance organised anyway. as dealer has reg number.

I'm getting a TDV6 Vogue SE and the insurance price has astonished me........£328pa (£100 compulsory excess, £250 Voluntary). Far better than anything on the Internet!

Thought it was too good to be true!!!! Censored

They have now come back to me and said the quote is "Additional Premium up to renewal". I queried the quote and apparently it takes into account my other cars insured with them which are due for renewal in September. So, in actual fact my premium for the FFRR for a year is double the amount....not as good as others on the internet now!! Whistle

Ah well.

Glad I never asked you who the insurance co was as I'd be demanding my money back and interest Whistle
Shame, nice feeling initially which I had until they needed a tracker fitted but I suppose reality sets in.

That's still good Chalky, I couldn't get anywhere near that!

I'm 47 years old, have 14 years no claims discount, I previously had a Ferrari F430 Manual, £460 per annum, a brand new 2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed, £760 per annum, now with this Range Rover I'm paying £839 per annum.

Has anyone else found FFRR particularly expensive to insure?

Yes its stupid, but they get nicked a lot, they need to sort keyless and fit a cat 5 tracker. letters not necessarily in the right order

Picking up 65 plate (Model Yr16) FF VSE on Saturday

Anybody know if this will have the incontrol secure app fitted as standard? the dealer has checked the paperwork and can't find any reference to a tracker.

My insurer has offered to add FF to my current policy which has 3 months left to renewal for £150 extra if tracker fitted or £175 if no tracker fitted.

The real killer is the estimated quote for next 12 month renewal in the FF VSE = £1500 with £650 excess, Censored Censored this makes absolutely no sense the L494 Sport I had in 2014 was circa £650 per annum with £250 excess and I'm just coming out of a highly modified 730bhp RS6 which was £885 with £250 excess?????

What's the deal with FF's, I would argue that the L494 is more "stealable" and the RS6 was £10K more expensive than the FF.

Anybody got a good recommendation for reasonable insurers?? I'm late forties, 10+ years NCD, CL and live in low risk area.

I feel your pain J9SHT, I suffered the same and my age a NCD is all similar to yours.

I've insured a brand new 2016 Bentley Mulsanne Speed, a Rolls Royce Phantom and a Ferrari F430 Spider, all for a considerably lower premium than a FFRR - Apparently, they get nicked a lot, which doesn't help.

LV Insurance came out cheapest through one of the comparison sites, £850 approx for 12 months. Type in as having Tracker on comparison sites for best quote, it'll still be chepeper to get one fitted than insuring without!

I believe you should have the Incontrol App though which is adequate for most insurers, but I'm no expert on car specs - Someone else on here should be able to tell you for sure.

Let us know how you get on with revised insurance quotes Thumbs Up

J9SHT if you are buying an Approved Used from a JLR Main dealer you should get an additional 2 years subscription to the incontrol secure app.

This gives you Thatcham Cat 6 tracker.

See my previous post on this thread.

Unfortunately/fortunately I’m not purchasing from a LRMD, it’s coming from an independent specialist.

I thought the incontrol secure app was activated/included for the first 3 years? Is this not transferable to new owners? I presume thereafter you just pay a yearly subscription?
